Overall, very well. We had several estimates when we visited Fox to look at their fencing displays. We then went inside to request more info. Dennis Stohl helped us and gave us an on the spot estimate. Dennis told us we could arrange to have John the fence estimator come out to work with us to get exactly what we wanted. John offered several great suggestions that we used to get the best fence possible , including using 15 aluminun post stiffeners to make the fence stronger throughout. Most companies only use stiffeners at the gates. The stiffeners are expensive but made this fence very strong. Oh, by the way, the fence was still cheaper than all of the other estimates! When we had our final inspection , the inspector told me that this was the strongest fence he had ever inspected. Fox Lumber fabricates the fence and gates at their location, they don't have to wait for anyone to make it for them. We had an issue with one of the gates. the area it is installed in slopes away from the fence and left the gate a few inches shorter than we liked. Our dogs were putting their heads under the gate which concerned us because the gate is a foot from the sidewalk. We called John and he said no problem, how much longer would you like the gate? The fabricator called me that afternoon to make sure of the measurements. This was on Saturday. We had a new gate by Monday afternoon! Fox only uses one installation crew and believe me they are very good at what they do. My village requires 42 in post holes and the guys had to bust their butts to please the village. My only complaint during the whole process was the lack of communication during the install. They started on Tuesday but had a problem with their work truck so they did'nt start until mid afternoon. They promised the fence would be finished by Friday afternoon and they were done Friday night. However, we did not have gates! We were told they did'nt want to hang them due to the massive amount of rain we had had during the week and I guess believe them. We went without gates for 5 days. We would not have used the yard anyway because it was too wet for the dogs to go out there so I guess it was'nt a big deal, but we would have appreciated someone calling us to let us know what was going on It's hard to say whether this was caused by the rain or not, but we are very pleased overall with our fence and we highly recommend Fox Lumber for your new fence!

The counter tops were not measured correctly. They had to take back one of the counter tops and it was still not cut properly. The counter tops they installed around the farm house sink were all uneven. They used my back yard to try to resize the counter top instead of taking it back to the shop, which I felt was very unprofessional. I called Fox Home Centers and the manager, Michael Lard, was rude to me. He claims that I am too picky of a customer and doesn't think I would be satisfied with any of his installers. He said that I need to go elsewhere for counter tops. He has pushed away his business. I wasted two weeks with them trying to get the counter tops installed. They even damaged my built-in cabinets when they tried to force a counter top in.

I have gone in to their location several times over the last couple of years since I'm making a lot of renovations to my home. Every time I go in, no one asks me if I need help. Every person is rude and you can tell, they couldn't care less about obtaining new business. Even when asking questions to an employee they seem bothered that they have to respond. Unfortunately, Fox has a reputation for having rude employees and noticeably ignoring new business. Several people told me never to go there. Including a couple of contractors. It's a shame that they have given themselves such a bad reputation, since they have good quality material and are a local business.

While trying to replace a portion of existing fencing in our new home, we contacted four different fencing contractors. What we found is that fencing companies are worse than used car salesmen: Hard to believe an entire industry is run by people who don't return phone calls, don't show up on time -- or at all -- and just seem...well, untrustworthy is putting it nicely. It was very frustrating.
After going through a long series of lame salesmen, we went back to long-time neighborhood fixture Fox Lumber. They are a little bit more money -- actually you can usually count on them being among the most expensive contractors, but they do exactly what they say they are going to do, show up on time, and use top of the line materials.
Really happy we went with Fox. You get what you pay for, and Fox delivered.

We bought the material from them. They were friendly and they had a good rate.

Their price was good but a little bit higher than I wanted to pay. We didn't end up using them. They were very courteous and helpful.

I contacted them about 2 things. First, I needed my fence repaired. They do not come out to give quotes. I had to go to their showroom. I was turned off by this. Second, I needed a quote for redoing my kitchen. They were very punctual about replying to me, but once again, I had to go to their showroom. I will use them if I can't find someone else who will come out to my house and give me quotes and ideas on what my options are for both jobs.

They were very punctual. From the taking of the measurements from the gentleman arriving to do the work, he was very professional. I will have them out again to do some more work.

As with the first original fence, Fox's owner came out, measured and provided an estimate. Those guys do a great job, they are fast, quality, and affordable. I would strongly recommend.

They provided great customer service. They were very personable, very friendly and very nice company and easy to deal with. They have wide range of shopping for kitchen cabinets. They have wide variety of price range in terms of quality of the product which actually gives an idea of the product. As they have a variety of price range anything can fit into your price range from lower end to upper end.

Overall, the experience was great! The man who came out to estimate the job, gave us the least expensive option and the most expensive option. We choose the middle of the road with one upgrade. He recommended that we have some landscape work done prior to install to level our property, which no one else recommended. We had not thought of this, but he was absolutely correct. The workers showed up on time, and worked hard for two days. At one point they accidentally cut our underground sprinkler line. They immediately told us, we ran out for repair items ($4) and they fixed the mistake, no problem. Although dirt removal is not part of the estimate, this service was a deal breaker for us, so they hired a dumpster and removed the dirt for no additional charge. The fence is gorgeous! I am in love.

I would definitely use them again for a similar job. The wood was good. We just paid the set price for the amount of wood.

I stopped in the office at 112th and Cicero. They wrote up an estimate on the spot and a rep came out to survey the premises within a couple of days. The negotiations were straight forward and the work was accomplished from morning until late afternoon all on one day. I had three other estimates and Fox was the most reasonable by a good margin.

They did a good job, but there were a few problems: they put a hole in our underground sprinkler, and there was a spot where the ground was much lower than the fence, and I had to ask if it would be filled in. There were some bare patches after the work was done, but I'm not sure if it's their responsibility to fix that.
