"Service call went very well. Anthony D. and Brandon arrived promptly and were very courteous. I explained to Anthony what services were requested and discussed quote recd ( including discount) for services from office. Anthony assessed fireplace and explained what needed to be done and then he went up on roof. Anthony explained about issues with chimney stack and he shared pictures which were very helpful for me to see what needed to be done. I requested photos of before and after work done on chimney stack be sent to me, Anthony said they would be sent. I'm very pleased with Anthony's communication about recommendations for fireplace and chimney and for his work done on the chimney. I am very pleased with Brandon's work on the interior fireplace. "Manuel completely rebuilt the inside of our fireplace that included installing a new cast iron burner/starter, all new wall panels, and tearing out and putting in fresh new concrete for the "floor" He also cleaned our chimney. Application and Permanence

To finish, go in with the paint brush for edges or hard-to-reach areas.

Hard materials like glass, metal, and hardwood floors, washable fabrics, and undamaged electrical appliances can often be salvaged after a fire, although it depends on the extent of the damage. For washable fabrics, make sure to use a phosphate mix during the washing process to extract the smoke smell. There are a few things you should throw away after a fire, like canned foods and cosmetics, even if they don’t look like they’re damaged.

When it comes to painting your bricks, you’ve got a few options. Traditionally, lime wash (a mix of aged, burned, and crushed lime and water) was used to whitewash brick or stone. You can also find premixed brick whitewash paint that cuts out a few steps and lets you get started faster. The main difference between limewash and German schmear is their core ingredient. Limewash is made from crushed limestone, while German schmear uses a mortar base. This affects their application, appearance, and longevity. German schmear involves applying a thin layer of mortar to brick or stone and then partially wiping it off. In contrast, limewash is a type of paint. German schmear is essentially permanent, lasting one to two decades with minimal maintenance, whereas limewash has a shorter lifespan of five to seven years. Cost-wise, German schmear is about $1 to $4 per square foot and is typically only available in white or gray.
