There are a few ways to unclog a toilet without a plunger. Break up the clog with homemade solutions containing soap, vinegar, and baking soda, or simply let hot water spend some time in the drain. Freeze-proof faucets can still benefit from insulation, and they will need covers if you live somewhere with extremely cold winter temperatures. Unfortunately, no, you cannot shower while your septic tank is being pumped. The water needs to be shut off while your septic tank is serviced, which includes showers, toilets, sinks, and dishwashers. Take a shower well before pumping is scheduled to begin. Once the pumping is complete, you can resume regular water use.

If you notice water leaking down the side of the bowl or tank and you don’t notice any cracks in the porcelain, the odds are that it’s condensation. If you notice water around the base of the toilet, this points to a leak. Check for loose bolts. A sewage odor may also indicate a broken toilet flange.
