"Sink in the kitchen was clogged, I had ( past tense) a home warranty service that dispatched a plumber to my location. He never showed, contacted them again and they sent out another plumber. This guy showed up and was totally useless. That plumber said he would stop back by on Wednesday, the first home visit was on Friday. On Monday he called me back and canceled our appointment and said he would call me when he could make it. I put in a request here on this site for service this was Tuesday night. Wednesday morning Best Price Sewer and Plumbing called. 2 hours from that call the clog was cleared. Nate was/ is very professional, knows what he is doing. 5 Stars all the way."

Customers say: True professional

"When temperatures dropped to -50 with wind chill, the pipes to our basement bathroom sink froze. And as soon as everything began to thaw, (on Friday night) we found that we had a ruptured hot water pipe. Water was shooting out of the wall all over the bathroom. When it became clear that our usual plumber wasn't going to show up on Saturday, I frantically called half-a-dozen plumbers from Angie's List. Only Charlie got back to me and agreed to show up after his next job. On a day that he was clearly being overwhelmed with calls from all over the city, Charlie kept his word and showed up with his partner Dimitri. They quickly figured out there were no other leaks and repaired the pipe. On top of it, Charlie spotted two other unrelated plumbing issues in our HVAC room. They were minor now but could have turned into bigger problems down the road. His thoroughness and attention to detail allowed him to spot these hidden problems and save us headaches down the road. We had our water working in under an hour (on a Saturday evening!) and he charged a very fair price given the demands upon his time. He left our house at 5pm, his phone blowing up from other customers. I asked if he was going to have an end to the day soon, but he said he still had hours to go...he had promised other worried homeowners that he would help them today. THAT's the kind of dedication I want from my plumber. Call Charlie with confidence."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Watch for discolored water from your taps, which signals internal corrosion in older galvanized pipes. A sump pump that cycles rapidly or runs constantly warns of an impending failure during heavy rain. White mineral deposits on your basement walls indicate serious water intrusion through the clay soil. Additionally, rumbling water heaters mean severe sediment buildup, and sudden winter pressure drops signal freezing pipes across IL. Address these hazards immediately.

Helpful?

You must test your sump pump annually before the spring thaw to prevent basement flooding. Winterize all exterior hose bibs and insulate exposed pipes to survive freezing temperatures. Flush your water heater regularly to remove heavy mineral sediment caused by the regional water supply. Exercise your main shut-off valve to prevent seizing. Finally, schedule routine camera inspections for your sewer laterals to catch root intrusion common in Alsip.

Helpful?

Eliminate any quote that fails to include a valid state license number or ignores mandatory local building permits. Contractors who avoid pulling permits expose you to severe liability and failed inspections. You must also reject quotes for sewer work that omit a preliminary camera inspection. Unusually low bids for repiping indicate unlicensed labor or substandard materials. Always verify that your chosen professional follows all IL building regulations.

Helpful?

Keep descaling supplies ready to tackle the hard water from the regional system. You should also stock pipe insulation to protect against harsh winter freezing. Because many local homes date back to the mid-century, keep fittings for older galvanized steel or copper pipes on hand. Finally, store extra sump pump supplies to prevent basement flooding during heavy spring rains. Always hire a licensed professional for permitted plumbing work in Alsip.

Helpful?

The age of your property provides the clearest indicator. Houses built between the 1950s and 1970s feature aging galvanized steel pipes, cast iron drains, and clay sewer laterals vulnerable to tree root intrusion. Consistently low water pressure also makes your home an excellent candidate for repiping. Check your local permit history to identify unpermitted past work. Always hire a licensed contractor to handle substantial plumbing upgrades in Alsip.
