"Sammson Concrete did an excellent job. My village is particularly difficult with concrete code and has some laws that I don't necessarily agree with with regards to reinforcement of concrete. Throughout the process I always felt like Sammson concrete had my best interest in mind, and went out of their way to ensure the best job possible would be performed. The driveway and garage came out looking great, and I think with a lesser company I may not have had such an easy time getting quality work done."

"I called them about my paver driveway.  They were punctual, professional, very friendly and informative.  I did not use them for the work because I eventually had a friend who is also a contractor help me perform the job, but would have considered them if this was not the case.  I've had bad experiences with punctuality and communication with some of these contractors so it was a nice change of pace.

"Kenny, Alex, and Marcello arrived early to assess the damage to my garage roof. Kenny told me how long it would take them to do the job and how much it would cost. I agreed. They started work immediately and finished it in the estimated amount of time. They cleaned off the debris on the roof, discarded the damaged shingles and caps, and swept the debris from the alley in front of the garage. I was completely satisfied with the job and their professionalism."

"We met with one of the owners Mark he was knowledgable and professional.  Mark explained in detail what they were gonna do and how they were gonna do the work in my opinion better then any of the other contractors.  He provided us with a detailed estimate, ways to save some money and gave his recommendations on ways we could save some money for another project we are planning.  (which I liked)  He is very concerned the job be done the right way and gave us a life time warranty on the roof.  They showed up when they said they were gonna, cleaned up the area after better then I expected.  This company is very professional and I would recommend them to anyone.  The job was done fantastically, very professional. We couldn't have been more pleased."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

An ideal driveway gradient is between 2% and 5%. Anything lower than 1% or higher than 15% can cause problems for your car or property. A driveway with less than a 1% slope increases your likelihood of flooding and water damage, while a driveway with a 15% grade or higher can be too steep for safe traveling.

The driveway apron is a technical term referring to where a private driveway meets the public street. If there is a sidewalk in front of the house, the driveway apron is typically on the opposite side of the public sidewalk from the driveway itself.

Driveways should be sloped with a minimum 2% slope—anything lower will cause precipitation and runoff to collect. A 2% slope is the equivalent of a 2-foot rise over 100 feet. One quick way to check the integrity of your driveway’s slope: no more than four inches of water should collect on the surface longer than 15 minutes after rain.

The material that’s best for your private road depends on your property, the climate in your area, and your personal preferences. Gravel is an affordable option, but some homeowners don’t like how it looks. It can be a pain to remove snow from, and it requires more ongoing maintenance than asphalt or concrete. However, while these other options require less maintenance and make snow removal a breeze, they’re more expensive and will need repairs from time to time. Ultimately, you’ll have to choose the road material that suits you and your property best.

Several materials are suitable for steep driveways. Gravel and crushed stone are affordable options that provide good traction. Permeable pavers—such as plastic, rubber, or concrete—filled with gravel or crushed stones are also excellent, as they allow water to drain without causing erosion and perform well in ice and snow. Another option is resin, which can be coated with an anti-slip finish and helps prevent puddles. For added stability, you can install a retaining wall to prevent pavers and gravel from shifting over time.
