"Wyatt Watts Construction! Wyatt has a very strong work ethic. He shows up on time! He keeps his construction sight clean as he works. He only charges for the hours he works or sticks to the quote he gave us. He made sure we were happy with his craftsmanship. We were so pleased with his work, we trusted him enough to referred him to our Real Estate clients and they were thrilled with his work. He moved to Coeur de Alene and these clientsâ  family is begging him to come back to boise to do a job for them! "We recently had all of our red oak hardwood floors refinished by Chuck Pierce the owner of Great Expectations Flooring. Chucks attention to detail both in his craftsmanship and understanding of what we were looking for was flawless. Upon completion we were stunned at how beautiful our floors looked. We had hired another company to refinish our floors 4 weeks earlier who did such a horrible job refinishing and staining that we had no other choice but to start all over. So, Chuck took on a difficult job. Our floors are beautiful now and he exceeded our expectations."

"New to us house, complete rip out and install new wood floors. Helped us finding quality flooring at low price. Work was completed while we were living in the home and patiently waited for us to free up areas to be worked. Seen other work they did on a larger scale holding costs down but providing quality, large scale work to include ripout, install, sanding, staining, sanding, initial coats and final coats. Highly recommend."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Berber is the most expensive type of carpet, followed by textured carpet. Berber costs $3 to $20 per square foot, and textured carpet ranges from $1 to $12 per square foot. Berber features fibers arranged in short, thick loops, making it extraordinarily durable. The most expensive carpet material is wool, followed by acrylic, Triexta, and cotton. Wool costs $4 to $20 per square foot and is a beautiful, luxurious, and durable material. Acrylic, Triexta, and cotton range from $2 to $8 per square foot.

Although hardwood floors have a costly upfront expense, most homeowners find them to be worth the investment. They are incredibly durable and can last for decades with proper maintenance. Hardwood floors can also provide a high return on investment (ROI)—up to 118% on average—and add significant value and appeal to your home. Additionally, because they are easy to keep free of dust, pollen, and pet dander, they can sometimes help alleviate allergies for household members.

Carpeting lasts between 10 and 15 years in most cases, but keep an eye out for common signs that it's time to replace it. Persistent smells despite deep cleaning, faded color, worn-down carpet padding, and general wear and tear are signs that it's time to tear it up. If you are experiencing allergy issues indoors, this could also be a sign that new flooring is the key to a fresher home.

If you also need to know how to fill the gap between the floor and the baseboard, it's best to use a flexible, paintable latex caulk. Clean the area thoroughly to remove dust and debris. Then, apply a smooth bead of caulk along the gap using a caulking gun, and use a caulk-smoothing tool to press and smooth it into place. If the gap is large, you may need to insert backer rod, such as a foam filler, before caulking. Once dry, paint the caulk to match the baseboard for a clean, seamless look.

It’s better to lift and set down furniture; sliding it across the floor is more likely to cause damage to both the floor and the furniture itself. For very heavy items, consider using a dolly with rubber wheels. It is possible to purchase sliders designed specifically for gliding furniture across floors, but you still risk causing permanent damage to flooring if you use them.
