"Not only are Pratt and Cesar the best floor finishers, but they're great people! It's getting hard to find honest, ethical contractors. I think this business is perfect for Idaho and I highly recommend using them!"

"Wyatt Watts Construction! Wyatt has a very strong work ethic. He shows up on time! He keeps his construction sight clean as he works. He only charges for the hours he works or sticks to the quote he gave us. He made sure we were happy with his craftsmanship. We were so pleased with his work, we trusted him enough to referred him to our Real Estate clients and they were thrilled with his work. He moved to Coeur de Alene and these clientsâ  family is begging him to come back to boise to do a job for them! "New to us house, complete rip out and install new wood floors. Helped us finding quality flooring at low price. Work was completed while we were living in the home and patiently waited for us to free up areas to be worked. Seen other work they did on a larger scale holding costs down but providing quality, large scale work to include ripout, install, sanding, staining, sanding, initial coats and final coats. Highly recommend."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Hardwood offers the highest ROI at around 75%. Engineered hardwood, tile, reclaimed wood, and laminate also increase a home’s value but with lower ROIs. Lighter tiles tend to increase a home’s value slightly more than darker tiles. Taking the ROI into account when you choose flooring can increase your home value and allow you to recoup some or all of the cost to install it.

Vinyl plank flooring is widely considered to be the best flooring for mobile homes. It’s designed to look like other materials, such as hardwood or stone, for a lower cost. It’s durable, waterproof, and easy to install. Engineered hardwood and laminate flooring are also good options.

Not all attic floors are created equal—size, layout, and square footage often vary. The amount of weight an attic floor can hold depends on several factors including the joist size and position, any structural supports or subfloors, and the original intent of the attic design. Without structural reinforcement, your floor might only be able to support about 10 pounds per square foot of floor load before collapsing.

Laminate flooring takes about 24 to 48  hours to settle. Before this, planks are not completely acclimated to your home, and walking on them could cause shifting and permanent damage to the flooring. You should allow floorboards to acclimate for 48 to 72 hours before installing so that they can adjust to your home’s humidity and temperature levels, but they will continue to acclimate and settle after installation. For this reason, avoid placing any furniture in the room for 72 hours after installation.

Your floors will continue to settle for a few months after installation, becoming less bouncy as they rest.

To properly maintain and care for hardwood floors without damaging the finish, establish a regular cleaning routine. Sweep with a broom or microfiber dust mop daily, or vacuum weekly, to remove dirt and debris that can scratch the surface; be sure to clean in tight corners and under furniture. For a deeper clean, use a damp mop with a cleaner specifically designed for hardwood floors, but avoid using harsh chemicals or excessive water, as this can damage the wood. You can further protect your floors by placing mats at entryways to catch dirt and moisture and putting felt pads under furniture legs to prevent scratches. For long-term care, refinish the floors as needed to keep them looking their best.
