"Wyatt Watts Construction! Wyatt has a very strong work ethic. He shows up on time! He keeps his construction sight clean as he works. He only charges for the hours he works or sticks to the quote he gave us. He made sure we were happy with his craftsmanship. We were so pleased with his work, we trusted him enough to referred him to our Real Estate clients and they were thrilled with his work. He moved to Coeur de Alene and these clientsâ  family is begging him to come back to boise to do a job for them! "Shane quickly scheduled us in for a simple ceiling soffit crown moulding install. He gave rough ( but reasonable) initial quote over the phone and made appointment as quickly as possible. He arrived at scheduled time- on-time and performed the work quickly and efficiently. He kept the work area very clean...And left the area clean. Since he bid the job sight unseen, he adjusted his final price downward (!) due to the fact that it was a simpler job than initially expected. A few days later, he personally called to follow-up and find out if we were satisfied with the work. That was a first...And we have dealt with dozens of local contractors over the years ! He was very professional and courteous. Shane is first class. He takes pride in his work, is a perfectionist and offered outstanding customer service, communication and follow-through."

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

Yes, Corian® and other solid surface materials can be cut with standard woodworking tools, such as a circular saw or a jigsaw. However, it is crucial to use the correct type of blade to avoid damaging the material.

For a circular saw, a tungsten carbide-tipped blade is required; a triple chip grind blade is highly recommended. For a jigsaw, you should use a fine-tooth down-cutting blade. Do not use blades designed for cutting wood, as they can cause microfractures that weaken the edges of the countertop. A diamond blade is also unnecessary, as those are designed for harder materials like natural stone, which Corian is not.

After cutting, the edge will be rough. It is essential to sand and smooth the cut edge to prevent microfractures, which can eventually compromise the integrity of the countertop.

Yes, Corian® and other solid surface countertops can be cut with standard woodworking tools like a circular saw or a jigsaw, but using the correct blade is crucial for the best results.

The recommended blade is a tungsten carbide-tipped blade, often called a solid-surface planer or triple chip grind blade. This type of blade is hard enough to cut through the material effectively. For a jigsaw, a fine-tooth down-cutting blade should be used.

It is important to note that a diamond blade is not necessary. Diamond blades are designed for harder materials like natural stone, concrete, or brick, and Corian is not a natural stone.

Using blades designed for wood is not recommended as they can cause microfractures that weaken the countertop's edges. While a tungsten carbide blade provides a much cleaner cut, the resulting edge will still be rough and must be sanded and smoothed to prevent microfractures from developing over time.

Learning how to frame a house includes picking the right lumber for the job. Most people will want to pick pine, spruce, or fir for the framing. These types of lumber are affordable and produce sturdy framing for structures. Look for kiln-dried lumber to reduce the risk of shrinkage or insect damage after installation. As part of what’s included in framing a house when you hire a professional, the contractor should order the lumber, so you don’t have to worry about finding the right lumber.

There are several mistakes you should avoid when using butcher block countertops. Don't place hot pots or pans directly on the surface, as this can crack the wood and cause permanent damage. Avoid leaving wet items sitting on the surface, and wipe up liquids as soon as possible to avoid stains.

Spindles on a deck may also be called balusters or pickets. While not as important to the structural support of the deck as the rail posts, they play a critical role in ensuring the deck is safe to use by closing in large gaps in the railing. For this reason, balusters must be no more than 4 inches away from one another.
