"Gilberto called me right away, gave me a quote, and was able to get started quickly. There were additional costs due to a change in depth, but he was honest and kept me informed the whole time. I love my new patio extension and swim spa slab"

"Colima Concrete exceeded my expectations. I received a fair quote for my 30x10 Patio extension and the quality of work was excellent. The crew was prompt and professional. I already have another project lined up with Colima Concrete and highly recommend for anyone in the local area. Glad they were able to fit us in so quickly so we can enjoy the nice weather in our backyard."

"Pave Hawk was hired to do an addition to an existing cement patio, with a sitting wall, and cap. The patio was stamped concrete and colored. They have accomplished the desired outcome. We did need some flexibility about timing, as they have gotten very busy, during the project. All in all, they have done a great job, The people, especially Leon, were great to work with. Terry, while out of state, still kept in touch to stay on top of the project and keep me informed as needed. Jared was also helpful in the process, and communication was frequent, and dependable. I would recommend them. We are happy with the results!"

"Forest Landscaping was great to work with. Erika was very helpful and knowledgeable. What I really appreciate was the fact that they started the job when promised, they cleaned the job site each day, they showed up each day at the scheduled time and finished when promised. They are very professional. We are happy with the landscape and jobs they completed in our back yard."

"If you are looking for the best landscaper in the Treasure Valley, search no more, you have arrived! Kody and his team at Art of the Earth were fantastic! We wanted to level a berm and put a patio for our new firepit. As someone who can barely tell a tree from a bush, Kody's expertise really stood out. He walked us through so many great options of what trees, bushes, shrubs, rocks, and colors to consider given the size, scope, and amount of sun exposure our yard gets for the project. It seemed our questions were never ending yet Kody always had great answers and even better suggestions. In addition to the patio, we told Kody we wanted a flag stone path to our hot tub with some stone steps. WOW! It's only been 1 week since completion and everyone who comes over compliments how great the pathway looks. Kody's team was always on time, professional, and always cleaned up after a days work. You can tell these guys really love their jobs! Prior to meeting Kody, we thoroughly interviewed several landscapers for the job. Many asked us exactly what we wanted and the interactions were more transactional rather than consultative. When Kody met us for our first appointment, we told him a vague outline of what we wanted but us being landscape neophytes, didn't have a clear cut idea of where we wanted every boulder, every bush, every tree, or even what kind of tree's we wanted. This is where Art of the Earth shines. Kody's extensive knowledge of horticulture helped us refine and hone in our vision and create a backyard space that we love today and will love for many years to come. I could go on and on about the great work ethic, craftmanship, knowledge, and experience Art of the Earth brings to the table but I'll stop here. If you need landscaping, you owe it to your yard to give Kody a call."

Patios questions, answered by experts

In most parts of the U.S., adding a screened-in porch requires a building permit. Since this type of project often involves structural work and changes to your home’s footprint, homeowners should adhere to local guidelines. That said, permit rules can vary widely depending on where you live and how extensive the project is. Before you start sketching out plans or ordering materials, check in with your city or county’s building department to avoid headaches, fines, and potential structural issues down the line.

Your maintenance needs revolve around the type of foundation you choose, as well as how you furnish or decorate it. Patios require little else other than the occasional hose-down, but decks and other wooden structures will require annual power washing and sealing. You may also need to restain the wood every two to three years.

Adding a solid roof rather than building a pergola or leaving the space open will make maintenance much easier. Without a roof, you will need to spend more time sweeping, washing, and covering your furniture to protect it from UV bleaching.

There are many materials to choose from, including picket fencing, wood slats, galvanized metal skirting, dog-ear fence panels, scallop wood fence panels, bamboo screens, and other decorative screens. You can search for materials at local big box stores like Home Depot or scour online home improvement sites. Good search terms to use are fencing, skirting, and privacy panels.

While there is no one size that’s considered best, the sunroom size that’s best for you will come down to the size of your home and how you want to use your sunroom. Smaller sunrooms under 120 square feet provide a nice semi-outdoor sitting area, medium-sized sunrooms between 120 and 200 square feet can house an outdoor dining area and a small area for additional seating, and large sunrooms over 200 square feet can serve multiple purposes and even include an outdoor kitchen.

A professional can design and construct sunrooms or patio enclosures that meet structural standards, optimize environmental conditions, and integrate seamlessly with existing architecture. This ensures the project enhances home value and provides long-term enjoyment.
