Christian and the Modern team were outstanding. Prompt replies to emails and phone calls. Always professional and pleasant. Christian made extra site visits to review the work done by his team and on his final visit adjusted our sprinkler heads after the slab was poured and everyone was gone. Highly recommend thm.

I would not recommend this company and I would never use them again. We had multiple issues with our backyard landscaping project. Concrete work was terrible and had to be re-done. Still very poor concrete work, as we are finding cracks and wood material in concrete already (project just completed mid July). Very poor communication with us and among different divisions in the company. This made it very stressful as the homeowner. We never knew what was going on or when people would be showing up. Project was delayed getting started and took about 4x longer than we were told. I would highly suggest looking elsewhere for your landscaping and especially your concrete work!

Nick and his crew are awesome! I can't recommend these guys enough. The guys worked very hard and are very professional. Nick met with us multiple times to lay out exactly what we wanted. We have had a lot of work down on our house, so we are familiar with how companies get things done. Nick was by far the best at setting and meeting our expectations. It seems to me that getting the work done is easy, but what is not easy is communication between customers, sales, and the crew. That is where Modern Landscape shines. ALL questions/emails were answered promptly, and communication to his guys was obviously very good, nothing was missed. We asked for quite a bit of extra work to be done that was not on the original bid, and that was never a problem. If any problems came up, Nick dealt with them quickly. There is good reason why these guys are the best. Thanks guys! We could not be happier with our new back yard!!!

Much personal attention to detail was given to fulfill the layout design that Modern created from our wants and wishes. They are a turnkey full service contractor not using any subcontractors for hardscape or landscape services. I have recommended them to others who are now using them as well. I will use them again for other landscape projects.

Modern Landscape did an A+ job on a complete re-landscape including a new concrete driveway, new sprinkler/drip system, sod, large stone areas, pavers, plants/bushes, mulch, raised planters and design help. I cannot say enough about how professional, knowledgeable, hard-working, and courteous the staff was. Everything was done timely, and to complete satisfaction. They really went above and beyond to educate me on watering, fertilizing, and cutting instructions as well as obtaining hard-to-find specialty shrubs that I wanted. I highly recommend this company.

Modern Landscape recently installed new landscaping in front of our office building. We already had a plan which included a natural boulder water feature, dry river rock beds, stone benches, 3 trees as well as many grasses and perennial wildflowers. The finished landscape is amazing as they turned our plan into a reality! They are a busy company, so we did have to wait a few weeks for an opening in their schedule. We recognize that landscapers are at the mercy of weather and suppliers, which were especially impacted during the pandemic, so I would recommend patience and flexibility. When our project finally began, the crew kept to their 3 day time estimate and worked as a team to complete tear out and removal, stone placement, planting, drip lines, and mulch. The trees they brought are gorgeous! They were careful with the details that make a difference, like placing the stone benches on a slight, but unnoticeable, angle so water will run off and not puddle on the seats. We chose Modern Landscaping because of the recommendations of others, as well as the project portfolios on their website. We can also highly recommend Modern Landscaping for your next project.

After interviewing five landscape companies, I chose Modern Landscape and Design for a complete gut and installation of everything new on my one-third acre yard; and every day during the project and since its completion, I am profoundly grateful for having selected Nick Louie and his team. The scope of my project required a wide range of knowledge, successful experience and all-encompassing skills. A new sprinkler/drip-line system to supply 15 trees, approximately 40 shrubs/grasses and 2,500 s.f. of sod, spanning the entire lot and along a 135' driveway, was installed. Drainage issues were remedied with a yard drain, proper sloping, pop-ups, good dirt and parging a foundation wall. Nick listened attentively to my ideas, provided a comprehensive, in-color list of trees and plants and made recommendations for those that do well in this region, would be appropriately sized for the various areas of the yard and the house itself and would provide the desired harmony, privacy and flow. In the midst of rain for days on end resulting in mud and muck everywhere, when I struggled to see the big picture and questioned some of my choices, Nick patiently listened, responded promptly to texts and emails and conveyed every detail, modification or concern of mine to his crew. A couple of Nick's suggestions regarding the shape of beds and adjacent sod at the front of my house and his recommendation for the size and color of rock were outside of my somewhat staid, traditional ideas, but he was absolutely spot on; and the end result for that area and the entire yard is absolutely captivating. The view from every window I look out, every time I drive up to the house, when I'm mowing the grass or sitting out on the patio, I am struck by the beauty of the trees, plants and flow of the beds and grass. After having lived with chaotic plantings, a neglected lawn and weeds, weeds, weeds everywhere that I tried to maintain and/or eliminate for four years in this house, to say that I was adamant about good results and anxious about every detail of this project would be an understatement. Nick and his crew far exceeded my expectations and gave me more bang for my buck and splendor than I ever imagined. Being a homeowner for 40+ years, from the East Coast to the West, and having dealt with every kind of contractor imaginable, I wholeheartedly recommend Modern Landscape and Design. Nick Louie is a man of integrity. His pricing was incredibly reasonable for the extensive and varied amount of work done and the number, variety and health of the plants installed. His crew was prompt, conscientious and hard-working. They were always courteous and kept the job site organized and the sidewalk and driveway swept. They performed a final cleanup after the trees and plants were in by hosing down the rock and power-washing all of the concrete. My only regret was not knowing Modern Landscape did concrete work also; I would have had them tear out and pour my previously done 135' driveway.

Modern Landscape and Design spent time during our initial meeting to look at our yards and then offer suggestions. We received links to view numerous previous projects and pictures of a variety of trees, shrubs, and flowers. In their next visit, Modern Landscape brought a couple of suggested designs. Once we decided upon the plants and design, they scheduled an appointment to commence the project. It was finished in a timely manner, and it looked great. Modern Landscape did follow up with a phone call and email to answer any questions or had any concerns. We also received a handout on how to maintain our new landscaping. We also had curbing added around our trees. Excellent work. I highly recommend Modern Landscape and Design.

Was a great job so far, they put in two drains and replace all our planter bed bark. Put in two vent wells and move our control box our front sprinklers and replace all our old values. so far not sure if its working because sprinklers are not turn on let.

Nick is a total charlatan. He has no expertise whatsoever in landscaping and patio design, especially when it comes to pavers, and water features. Buyer beware! Not only will he ruin your project, but he will never fix it! I have been 2 years trying to get him to repair issues with a $75K project, and he has yet to make it right.

However, in response to your concerns, we would like to mention that we did send someone out to address your concern despite being past the one year warranty time frame. I would also like to point out that the only reason we knew of any problem in the first place was because you left us a negative reviews online in 2019, rather than giving us a call, shooting us an email, or giving us any communication or chance to help address your concerns. We were never giving a fair opportunity to solve any issues. In the Fall of 2019 your original reviews were removed by you because I did address all your concerns. This recent review seems to be a similar situation to the last. Again, if you would have reach out to me via email, phone or any other form of communication your problems would have been taken cared of. With all this in mind, I feel entirely that your claims here are unfounded, unfair, and untrue. I would have appreciated some direct communication and the chance to help satisfy any further concerns that may have arisen since last we spoke, rather then finding out online. I have reached out several times to you offering to help you with your issues with no response. Modern Landscape stands behind all of our products and installs. Modern Landscape and Design has a team that has extensive experience in the landscape industry. I have in house designers that have masters degrees in landscape architecture. I also employ over 20 landscape employees who all have been in the industry for many years. Each one of my foreman have been landscaping for over 10 years and my superintendent has been in the industry for over 25 years. To say we have zero skills in landscaping is completely FALSE! I have several divisions within my company that are under the same entity hence your statement about the Better Business Bureau. Per my suppliers, Modern Landscape is a top producer in the Treasure Valley for paver patio installs and also product installation. You?re statement couldn?t be further from the truth. The fact that you video taped my installers during the whole process, not once did you mention any complaints or concerns about your job until your first online review over a year after the job was completed. You took it upon yourself to change the design of your pizza oven. In turn, I also gave you a discount out of good faith. Never did you mention any dissatisfaction until your online review. And yes, it was out of our standard warranty period and I still addressed your concerns and i'm still willing to. Being in the service industry, its hard to please every single client to their expectations. My team strives to make sure our clients are happy and satisfied as long as we are given the opportunity. In my opinion your job turned out absolutely beautiful, and was as per landscape design that you wanted and agreed to. What a fantastic experience it has been to work with Nick at Modern Landscape and Modern Concrete. We started with a new home with no landscaping other than poor sod in the back yard. With our plans changed to adjust to recommendations from Nick we now have an incredible back yard (and, yes, we redid the front at the same time!) The crew were fantastic. They were very hard working, neat and respectful. They worked in very bad weather (fitting in a concrete pour between snow days) but never stopped. Nick stayed in contact with us even when we were out of town for 2 weeks in the beginning of the project. We met several times to review the plan, the progress and to go over choices as they presented themselves. He was very professional and we felt from the very first meeting that he was trying to make sure that we got everything that we wanted for our backyard. If you are planning a landscaping project we would most strongly recommend Modern Landscape.
