"Work was promised in 2-3 weeks and I was told I would be notified of completion via email. Payment in full is required in advance. After more than 3 weeks I called as I had not received an email and was told repair had not begun. After 8 weeks and still no notification I called again and was told on the phone that they were ready. When I asked how long they had been ready they said they had been finished within the last week. When I picked up my shoes I asked if they would do anything for me since I was originally told 2-3 weeks and I was never notified and it ended up taking 2 months. The manager asked the clerk when she thought they were done while standing right in front of me, and then told me that based on his computer they had been done several weeks earlier (contrary to what I had been told on the phone). This still would have been 5-6 weeks after I dropped them off, which I pointed out to him. His reply was that they sometimes get busy after you drop off your shoes so the time gets extended. (you would think that you would be in line and get your shoes done first before the ones that get dropped off later) I would have been satisfied with as little as a $10 credit on future work, but he wouldn't budge. Bottom line, they were extremely slow, have a terrible notification system (which could be easily fixed with a little creativity and investment) and provided poor customer service. I have no complaints about the shoe repair itself, but would recommend customers use other options for shoe repair."

Leather and Vinyl Repair questions, answered by experts

If you have mold under your vinyl flooring, it’s recommended that you have it ripped out and start fresh. Mold isn’t something to take lightly and should involve a visit from a professional who can both test and identify the mold. If you’re determined to remedy it yourself, wear all the proper protective equipment—eye goggles, a high N-rated mask, and long, disposable gloves.

Even with proper floor protection, small scratches sometimes happen. If it’s just a minor scuff, you can often buff it out with a sponge and a bit of floor polish. For slightly worse scratches, there are a variety of scratch removal products that may help, including finish restorer and blending pencils.

Houses naturally settle over time, but they should settle uniformly with no apparent settling in one spot. If your floor is uneven but only in a particular area of your home, differential settlement could be the problem. This can be caused by improper drainage, erosion, expanding soil, earthquake activity, or poor construction techniques.

Uneven floors often signal structural issues in a home, so taking them seriously is vital. If you buy an older home with slightly uneven floors, check that your inspector thoroughly inspects the foundation to catch any potential issues early. And if you notice that your floors are becoming more uneven over time, call a pro to check your foundation ASAP.

It depends on the reason for the sagging floors, but since sagging floors are usually a sign of foundation damage that you could have avoided, chances are your homeowners insurance policy will not cover the necessary repairs. Not only that, but your provider likely won’t cover the actual foundation damage that is causing the issue either, as it’s considered an avoidable type of damage, and negligence isn’t covered by most insurers.
