"Paul squeezed me in the same day as I called him. He fixed a broken toilet and we are having him come back for additional plumbing work. He is easy to get a hold of and communicate with. He explains everything and his costs are great. We will continue to use him in the future!"

"Todd got back to me very quickly on my request for quotes. He happened to have some open time that very afternoon and he gave me a general quote range based on a few "what if's" as I had a multi-job issue with my plumbing needs. I think the total job was a bit more inclusive than Todd might have anticipated but he got right in there and completed the job quickly (especially considering some of the twists we encountered). Todd is a very experienced plumber who worked ho*** ** my job and he is also very cordial and easy to communicate with. I feel great about the job he did and his parting comments..."if anything doesn't seem to be working appropriately, give me a call." I highly recommend Todd's Plumbing."

"I had Bath Planet convert my bathtub/shower into a walk-in shower. It went great - from the salesman, James Allbee, to the time frame of the job being performed after the sale to the date completed (3 weeks); and the most praise goes to the installer, AJ (last name unknown), the man who did all of the hard work. He did it alone and in one day. He did an amazing job. He arrived first thing, a little after 8, and was done by 5:30 p.m. I did provide for him, my garage so that he had a place to work and cut material, etc. He had his own heater and work table in there and could close the garage if he needed or wanted. He first removed my glass sliding doors, then removed the shower walls, removed the dry wall so that the 2x4's and insulation were exposed to be able to get to the pipes and plumbing, and then replace all of that, including the drain all the way down to the main cast iron pipe or stack in the basement. He next broke up the porcelain covered cast iron bathtub with a rubber sledgehammer - removed all of the debris and hauled that stuff out in trash bags or carried out the large pieces and put in his work van. He then put in new wood or greenboard I believe it is called for the new walls and put a section on the floor where the tub used to be, before placing in the new basin. AJ also extended the pipe for the shower head so that it now is higher than it was, which was much appreciated and I didn't even have to request he do that but I love that it is up higher now. He next put up the lovely madeira granite acrylic that extends all the way up to my ceiling. He installed all the fixtures that I purchased as I showed him where I wanted the shelves and safety bars installed. He then installed the tall glass shower sliding doors and did the final things such as putting the silicone sealant where it needed to be applied. He cleaned up after himself. I am so pleased and absolutely LOVE my new shower. I feel like I am showering in a fancy hotel."

"We are pleased with our bath remodel that included a new tub, tub surround and wainscot walls. There was one small problem with the walls due to the ceiling and walls not being plumb however they did go above and beyond by doing more than was was agreed upon by making plumbing improvements, installing a new lighted medicine cabinet and repairing a light fixture. They were very courteous and the installer even made a suggestion for a change that we agreed would be better."

Customers say: True professional

"First of all, Andy and his father are super friendly, and I chose them primarily because I sensed they would be great to work with. Right from the start he was willing to negotiate his quote with me and refine his scope a bit so we both were satisfied. He was not the cheapest guy, but his price was competitive.  My biggest concern with any contractor is obviously quality of work---no problem here. My next biggest concern is a contractor's propensity to find ways to add cost to a project.  Andy did not do that.  We agreed to a price and he stuck with it.  He did not nickel-and-dime me to death.  I did ask him once to increase his price for some additional services, which he was willing to do for a very reasonable $350 (I think he might have had some regrets with this amount after realizing how much effort it took, but he did not ask me for any more money!).  Andy and his father do high-quality work.  I remember telling him that I want both him and me to be proud of what they accomplished, and that is exactly what he delivered. One thing I must emphasize is Andy's willingness to work within my schedule (not only because I, too, work for a living, but because I did some work myself and hired an electrician myself to do an extensive amount of electrical work.) All this hassle with scheduling, waiting, whatever, can be point of contention with some contractors, but not Andy! He understands the homeowner's circumstances and we just worked things out over the phone or email.  Also, you can trust Andy in your home.  I gave him full access, since I was rarely present when they did their work.  He always left the place nice, locked up, and secure.  Another key point:  Andy hired an excellent cabinet installer---beautiful work---precise, neat, and sound.  The plumber he hired is the nicest plumber I have ever met, and he did such a fine professional job.  Thank you!  Thank you! Thank you for hiring professional subcontractors that also care about their customers and the quality of their work.  Thank you to Scott's Home Renewal for performing so well and providing such fine results!  I highly recommend Andy and will most likely ask him to help me out on my next major renovation project that comes along.

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Delaying plumbing maintenance in Clive creates serious safety and structural hazards. Uninsulated pipes and neglected hose bibs will burst during freezing IA winters. Aging clay sewer lines will collapse, causing hazardous sewage backups in your basement. Persistent leaks also destabilize clay soils and damage your foundation. Address known deficiencies immediately to prevent severe water damage, avoid mold growth, and protect your home insurance coverage.

Helpful?

In Clive, you will encounter several types of certified professionals handling plumbing. Master plumbers oversee projects and secure necessary permits, while journeymen and apprentices perform the daily installation work. You will also find specialized contractors focusing on sewer and drain lines, well and septic systems, or combined mechanical and plumbing services. Always hire local professionals to ensure your project meets all IA safety regulations.

Helpful?

In Clive, your main sewer lateral, water heater, and outdoor hose bibs are high-priority areas for plumbing maintenance. Tree roots frequently invade aging sewer lines in established neighborhoods. Hard water accelerates sediment buildup, requiring earlier water heater replacements. Additionally, spring flooding stresses basement sump pump systems. Inspect uninsulated exterior pipes and non-frost-proof hose bibs before winter to prevent severe freeze damage in your IA home.

Helpful?

For plumbing in Clive, choose materials built to withstand extreme freeze-thaw cycles and shifting clay soils. You must use frost-proof pipes for exterior lines and bury them at least five to six feet deep. Because IA municipal water has moderate hardness and treatment chemicals, select corrosion-resistant indoor pipes. Consult a local professional to ensure your materials meet all structural and safety requirements for your specific property.

Helpful?

As homes age in Clive, plumbing needs shift from minor settling repairs to major system overhauls. Within the first thirty years, expect to replace water heaters, sump pumps, and worn hose bibs. Between thirty and fifty years, you must replace deteriorating galvanized supply pipes and aging clay sewer laterals. A local professional will help you upgrade these older systems to meet current IA safety standards.
