"When I asked my furnace repairman how I could lower my heating bills, he said get new windows on our 57 year old home. A neighbor just had her back deck replaced by Buresh Home Solutions and was very happy with the job they did, and highly recommended them. Their salesman came out, and had a promotional package we couldn't ignore, so we replaced ALL the windows upstairs, ALL basement half windows downstairs, and our rear door. The price was right, the work was very professional, and we lowered our thermostate two degree....... hopefully forever! We recommend Buresh Home Solutions for any home improvement project. The Villa Awning has a full cassette protecting the fabric when retracted. It is available in smaller mounting widths, and due to a different type of support in the awning frame, it does not require as much frame support.

"We had half our windows replaced last year & are getting the balance replaced this year. Andy come to our home to look at our remaining windows, get us set up with new windows, & schedule the installation. Instead of just focusing on the remaining windows needing replacement he first checked the windows that had been replaced last year. He discovered a few things that need repair or fixing & scheduled a technician to come out on Friday to get those fixes completed. Andy was thorough & great to work with!"

Windows questions, answered by experts

Making a window in a basement larger costs an average of $4,200. You’ll need to pay an average of $550 to have a structural engineer plan the project, $500 to $1,500 for the installation labor, and an average of $2,200 for the excavation and window well installation. The remainder will go toward pulling permits, installing trim, and repairing drywall on the interior.

Insulating windows with plastic works, but it can be time-consuming, and the end results can—and often do—end up lacking in aesthetics. Window film and caulking your windows to make sure there are no drafts are two options that increase the energy efficiency of your home in a low-cost way. Plastic can be a good strategy while you consider alternatives.

Impact windows are a type of window made with impact-resistant glass, designed specifically for hurricanes. The glass, treated with ethylene-vinyl, can withstand winds up to 200 mph, as well as flying debris. Brands sometimes test their impact windows with large missile impact tests.

Impact windows may be required in some places. For instance, the Florida Building Code requires homes to have impact-resistant windows if they live within a mile of the coast where wind speeds can reach 110 mph or more.

Whether or not it's worth it to install double-hung windows depends on several key factors. First, double-hung windows cost more than single-hung windows, so if you’re looking to lower costs, you might find it more worthwhile to choose single-hung windows. If you want the lowest maintenance requirements, though, double-hung windows are easier to clean.

Double-hung windows also offer better ventilation, making them a good option for bathrooms and kitchens. Single-hung windows have better energy efficiency than double-hung windows because they have only one moving part.

It’s time to replace your windows if most or many are in poor shape. In that case, new fiberglass windows will increase the energy efficiency of your home and add to its overall visual appeal, inside and out. Replacing your windows also can allow you to find a style that better suits the character of your home.

Constant fixes can be expensive over time, and by replacing your windows, you can be at ease knowing you now have windows that function properly and make your home more energy-efficient.
