"Jeremy called me a short time after I had inquired on Angies List and we set up an appointment for an hour later. He came and assessed the situation and tried to fix it before recommending that we replace the unit. He and his crew replaced the whole unit that day and had us cool air by the evening. Fantastic service and follow through!"

Installation, service and maintenance of all brands of heat and air conditioning equipment. I have been in the HVAC business for 25 years. I have no employees because I prefer to do the work myself, that way I know it is done right the first time.

In 1999 I decided to do something really different: Develop a company that would promote American manufacturers and show the public what we still have to offer. By default I do have to carry some import stuff. Wicker and teak for example, just aren't available as raw materials here, but I can still look for American OWNED manufacturers and bring to light the quality that our industry has to offer. Fire Magic has been made here since 1937; Portable Kitchen grills, since 1953; MHP since 1960, and I could go on and on. There are reasons why they are still around, like using all 1st quality materials. Most imports from China simply sell our own scrap goods back to us as shiny new goods, that's why they have 1 year warranties on finishes of patio furniture, or 1-2 years on grill parts. The truth is the best products are still made here, we just need to be able to find them. Our mission is to offer the best products, at the best value. To be able to answer any question any time, (or be able to find the answer for you) and enable our clients to make educated buying decisions, based on the facts, not just what we have on hand to sell or make the highest margin on. Mix in a couple highly qualified, eager-to-please service technicians, the urge to actually do what we say we'll do, and two cups of "we're here when you need us" and voila, Southern Hearth and Patio! (serves eight to ten). Where else can you talk about outdoor kitchens with people who REALLY like to grill! Or discuss fireplaces with people who actually design some of their own gas logs! Or with people who have been in the business for more than 15 years! We have a perfect record with our Better Business Bureau, but more importantly we value our record with you, our customers. If at any time you are not completely satisfied with your interaction with SHP, call me personally and I'll make things right. If you are so overwhelmed with our outstanding customer service you just gotta tell someone, TELL YOUR FRIENDS, ALL OF THEM, then call me! Thank you for the opportunity to serve you. Your trust in us isn't taken lightly, and we are honored that you have given us your consideration. Clay Dennis President and Owner Southern Hearth and Patio Inc. "I've been trying to get service on a fireplace insert I bought from them in 2011. Staff is rude and uncooperative. Prices are high, and wait times - just to get a return call, much less actual parts & labor - is unreasonable. When the blower stopped working, the lady in the service department refused to send anyone out to look at it since I mentioned I also needed firebrick and she wasn't going to send anyone out with the firebrick in a second trip. It took multiple weeks to get to the point of them placing an order for parts. And guess what - since they won't come out to look at my blower they have to guess at the parts I need - all of which I have to pay for in advance. And sure, I can return un-used parts. For a 20% restocking fee. So here I am more than a month after discovering my blower doesn't work, and I've finally got a call that my parts were in and when would I like to come pick them up? After explaining - again - that my blower doesn't work and I'm expecting a technician to come out and fix it, I've got a service call scheduled for... 3 weeks from now. At a rate of $130 for the first hour and $100 per hour after that. And no they can't tell me what time of day. The technician will call me in the morning to tell me where I am on the schedule. If I could get service _anywhere_ else on this unit I would do it in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, I seem to be locked into this place as the regional distributor."

Gas Logs questions, answered by experts

Many people find switching from an electric stove to a gas stove well worth the hassle. After all, gas stoves last up to 15 years, whereas most electric stoves only last up to 13 years. Plus, the sentiment and joy of cooking over a real fire is indeed irreplaceable—and offers more precise temperature controls than electric cooktops. The cost of converting an electric cooktop to a gas stove depends on whether your kitchen already has gas supplies, and the cost can range from $125 to $2,000. Also, make sure your new stove’s dimensions match the old one.

The cost to repair a gas leak is $120 to $250 on average, but it could be as costly as $5,000, depending on the leak location and severity.

For example, if you have drywall covering the source of the leak, you'll need to hire a contractor to replace the removed drywall. In addition, if the leak is underground, you'll need a contractor to excavate the ground to reach the gas line.

The easiest way to empty a propane tank is to simply use it until no propane remains. If you’re short on time and need a faster solution, transfer the propane to another tank instead. Wear leather gloves to protect your hands, then connect the hoses from both propane tanks and seal them tightly. Turn the knob to open the supply tank valve on the full tank and let it run until the pressure pushes all the propane into the other tank. When all propane is transferred, remove the hose and seal each tank.

Running a natural gas line costs between $260 and $820, with an average cost of $540. Gas line repairs cost between $15 and $25 per linear foot, and the cost depends on the type of fittings and connectors, the piping needed, and the mounting hardware. The pipe’s location also matters as it will take more time and labor to access underground pipes than aboveground pipes.

Temporarily capping a gas line—for renovations or during travel—doesn’t require a permit. If you plan to remove a gas line and cap it completely, you’ll need to apply and pay for one through your town or city. Depending on your region and its local codes, you may pay between $25 and $100. To avoid a gas leak or other hazards, some cities take the job of permanently adjusting or capping a gas line out of the hands of homeowners. Instead, they require hiring a professional gas plumber.
