"Omar was so professional and gave me the best price after doing my research. He was the first person to come look at my tree. I wanted branches cut but he suggested to cut the pine tree which was even better. He cleaned all the branches away. I am very satisfied. I will definitely reach out if I need another tree cut"

"The fellow that came out gave me a excellent price. He was polite and did a great job. Another one came out and tried to charge me double what I paid and was more interested in putting a new roof and wanting to buy a lawnmower then talking about the job I needed done. So I am happy with who I went with. Anybody looking for a grinding job needs to use this fellow. Honest and fair."

"Jose of Stump Grinding Solutions did a fantastic 5 rated job! He explained how he would do the work, he gave us a very fair quote, he did the job exactly how he said he would and he cleaned up the area before he left. I would highly recommend Jose for any stump grinding work. Jose more than earned what he quoted."

"Spartan did an outstanding job on our property. We hired them for a full structure demolition and some land clearing/mulching, and they handled everything from start to finish with zero issues. The demo was clean, controlled, and done faster than expected. They showed up with the right equipment, stayed on schedule, and kept the site safe the entire time. What really stood out was how organized they were — no confusion, no delays, just straight execution. After the demo, they handled the mulching and clearing, and the transformation was night and day. The property went from overgrown and unusable to clean, level, and ready for the next phase. Communication was solid throughout the whole process, and pricing was straightforward with no surprises. If you need demolition, land clearing, or mulching work done right, Spartan is the company to call. I’ll definitely be using them again."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Carefully pruning small roots no thicker than three inches in diameter won’t harm the tree. However, cutting larger roots may impact the tree's stability and nutrient absorption. It's advisable to consult an arborist or tree care professional to evaluate the root's size, the tree's health, and the potential impact of cutting. Proper tree pruning techniques and timing can minimize damage, but larger root removal may necessitate expert guidance to avoid compromising the tree's overall health and stability.

It's easy to misidentify trees that appear to be maple trees due to similarities in leaf shapes. Sweetgum, sycamore, and yellow poplar all have leaf shapes and appearances similar to maples. The fact that around a dozen maple tree varieties exist, only about half of which are considered common, makes misidentification an often typical occurrence.

Tree roots don’t necessarily break through concrete on their own, but they can certainly take advantage of existing cracks, even very small ones. As roots grow, they expand the cracks, making them larger and leading to serious and costly foundation damage. It’s a good idea to have repairs on any foundation cracks you’re concerned about.

If executed correctly your tree should survive after being transplanted to a new spot. However, effective transplanting requires six months, careful root pruning, safe transport to the new location, and replanting in prime soil conditions. You’ll also need an appropriately sized root ball for a complete tree transplant. A good rule of thumb is that, for every inch in diameter, your tree’s root ball needs to be around 11 inches. So a tree with a diameter of six inches needs a root ball of approximately 66 inches.

Tree experts don’t advise against digging through tree roots, but instead encourage caution and consultation with a local arborist to make sure you don’t damage the tree’s structure or interrupt its water or nutrient intake. An arborist can recommend specific practices when digging and help prune the roots or dig a trench for utilities with a tool that can remove soil without touching the tree’s roots.
