"The team at Tree Surgeon Atlanta were wonderful! There were prompt, professional and kind. We had two large trees near our house that needed to go due to termite damage and rotting. They were careful and strategic with their process. The trees were taken down and removed within a few hours. Thank you all so much for taking care of us!"

"I contacted and paid AC Tree to cut down and grind 2 large trees in the front of my yard. While they cut down the trees, they did not completely grind one stump down. I called and texted Shelley multiple times and asked when Stevie would come back out and complete the job. First, Shelley said that they only grind down 6 inches below the ground; anything lower than that would be an additional fee. I explained to her that the stump was clearly not 6 inches. I then sent pictures of the stump and sent them to Shelley. This was when the empty promises began. I was given different excuses why they had not contacted me, and different days Stevie would come by and finish the job, but they never came back. My husband and I will now have to spend more money to get someone else to grind the stump down so we can move forward with the next step to lay sod. Not only did AC Tree not complete the job, but they were also very dismissive. If only they would keep their word and do the job they were paid to do, I would not feel the need to write such a negative review. I just wanted them to correct what was left undone. All of this dismissive behavior and attitude is unfair and unacceptable. I will be contacting our attorney to sue the company for breach of contract. All of this aggravation could be avoided if they would just do the right thing. Update: They did contact me today and sent another company out to grind the stumps down, project is complete."

"I had about 20 stumps. The young man and assistant were verry thorough. Ground them all down to mulch. One stump had a metal fence post and he worked around it. He reviewed each stump at the end. I would recommend to anyone!!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Pruning can impact cold hardiness—but it’s less about the exact temperature and more about temperature variation. Generally, you don’t want to prune trees when there’s a risk of temperatures suddenly dropping from 50 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit to 0 degrees Fahrenheit or below. A tree is most sensitive until 48 hours after it’s pruned.

Unfortunately, palm tree stumps are one of the most difficult types to remove due to how their roots grow. Unlike other trees, palm tree roots grow horizontally and vertically. Palm tree roots grow as deep as three feet into the ground, although soil and growing conditions could mean they go as far as 50 inches into the earth.

If you want to be able to repurpose the grass in the area where you removed a stump later, you’ll have to dig quite deep—and perhaps wide—to trim away all the roots.

If an arborist is certified by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), the highest level of certification available is ISA Board Certified Master Arborist. According to the ISA, this credential is reserved for arborists “who have reached the pinnacle of their profession.” Check your arborist’s credentials before hiring to confirm their level of training and expertise.

Leaving a dead tree can expose your other trees to potential diseases, pests, and fungi, and it can also be a hazard. If your tree is dead, then you should hire a tree maintenance service to remove it. Cutting down trees is extremely dangerous, and a professional can ensure no one gets hurt and there is no damage to your property. Tree removal costs between $200 and $2,000 and will prevent future issues and keep you and your property safe.

Absolutely. These steps are significantly easier, too, especially when it comes to preserving the root ball and moving the palm tree. However, you will want to make sure the tree has plenty of fertilizer to establish itself and start growing. Supports may also be more important, as it can take extra time for a potted palm to spread out its roots. If you are transferring a palm to another pot, you’ll want to move up a size or two to a larger pot. Make sure the pot has excellent drainage to keep the palm from getting waterlogged.
