Customers say: True professional

"Ayla Tree Service was phenomenal! We had an issue getting a tree service out after hurricane Helene for six months!! I looked on Google for tree services near me for our community and I found Ayla! They were there the next day to give me an estimate! They started the job that next week! They understood the assignment and kept you in the knowing. These trees were not just cut but pruned, they know what they’re doing and they do it so well, that you couldn’t even tell there was debris made of any kind! The cleanup was fantastic! About 80 people living in one community and not one had an issue! We are very thankful for Ayla Tree Service and you will be as well!"

"Ryan and his crew know the meaning of customer service. They worked quickly, safely and well and went the extra mile to clean up the site once the tree was down. They deftly removed a huge dead water oak that overhung two sets of power lines. The price was fair and the results first rate. You should call Longwater Tree Service first."

"This by far was the best landscaping company that I had that serviced my yard and I had multiple companies in the past. They are extremely professional and meticulous with their work. They were so good with my project that multiple neighbors from my street messaged me about them and some of them inquired about them personally. Family owned company that services with that southern charm! Excellent Company!"

"I've had so much trouble finding reliable, honest people to get things done so I admit I was skeptical. The job needed to be done, though, so I took a deep breath and came to Angi. I had two companies contact me and there was no follow through. Then Cory (The Grounds Guys) was in contact and responded to my texts almost immediately. In very short order, he came to my home and gave me advice and information on different options (I had asked for advice as I wasnt sure what I wanted). He gave me estimates and went over the process for each option. Once I let Cory know what I wanted, the work began. The work was in three stages for my yard and each one was started when he said it would be. I did have concerns at first and I talked to him about it. There was one very small spot that wasn't right and he was over to fix it right away. I feel confident that I can contact him if there's a problem I'm having or need advice. Very professional and personable. Really nice guy... fantastic work. You won't be sorry you hired The Grounds Guys! Thanks, Cory!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

A tree growing close to a house can pose several risks, but removal isn't always the only or best solution. Potential problems include roots growing into the foundation and causing structural cracks, branches damaging the roof or promoting moss growth, and debris clogging gutters, which can lead to water damage. Trees can also provide access for pests and encourage mold. However, a small, healthy tree may not be a problem, and for larger, established trees, strategic trimming can be a cheaper and more beneficial alternative to removal. It is generally recommended to take action for trees within 10 to 20 feet of your home, especially if they are unhealthy or encroaching. Your best bet is to consult a professional arborist who can assess the specific situation and provide expert advice.

No, you should never top maple trees. Topping injures the tree and leads to the rapid growth of a weak canopy, which can be hazardous to rooftops and utility lines. Removing the crown can also leave the interior bark vulnerable to sun damage, leading to insects and disease. A topped tree can also reduce property value and permanently damage the appearance of a tree.

The best plan of action for an unhealthy or unsafe tree will depend on its condition. An arborist can recommend whether trimming or removal is the right call for your tree. Preventive tree trimming can keep trees safe and healthy, so make regular tree trimming a part of your yard maintenance plan.

Hiring an arborist or tree surgeon is usually more expensive than a standard tree company, but it is often worth the investment. Arborists have education and certifications that standard companies typically lack, leading to a more professional, expert-level service. Their expertise is particularly valuable for diseased or infested trees, as they can ensure safer removal and help prevent the issue from spreading. Additionally, arborists may be necessary for work near power lines, as uncertified companies are often not permitted to service these trees. If your goal is to preserve the health of your trees, an arborist is the best choice. Their services, such as stump grinding, are also performed with greater expertise to ensure a safe depth that won't cause your lawn to collapse over time.

No, you cannot plant a tree above a gas line. Tree roots grow and spread over time and can sometimes dent, crack, or penetrate a gas line. Those same roots may also cause accessibility problems for maintenance or repairs. You can generally plant vegetation with non-invasive root systems, low-growing vegetation, and flower beds near gas lines.
