"We were delighted with Matt and his quality of work on our bathroom remodel. We hired Legacy to take over an ongoing project when our prior (non Angi) contractor left us mid-project. Matt was able to salvage a poor start from previous guy and achieve our vision. He was patient, detailed and worked hard every day. He laid tile for our floor, shower, and half wall while also installing a free standing tub and repainting our vanity. I would definitely recommend Legacy Refinishing and Tile to anyone. We were very demanding and Matt delivered. Before and after photos show going from dull contractor brown to updated modern bathroom."

"The bottom half of my home was destroyed from busted pipes / water damage. TopStar provided topstar service -from replacing entire ceilings in 3 rooms, walls, flooring throughout the entire bottom level, painting, replaced doors, etc. They were prompt every day and worked deligiently to repair my home. Their attention to detail was outstanding. I am so happy and extremely satisfied with the workmanship and the employees. Those guys were the best! Edwin will always have a place in my heart. He took the time before he left at the completition of his job, to help me move boxes to various rooms so that I could easily unpack and put things back in place. He went above and beyond. Thank you TopStar for providing excellent service and employees. I will be calling on them for all of my housing needs in the future."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Figure out how much tile you need by measuring the backsplash area. Measure the height and length in feet and multiply to get the square footage. Don’t make adjustments for outlets or small cutouts but subtract the square footage for windows or other large obstructions from the total. To account for waste, get 10% more than your calculation.

You can let the tile sit without grout. Don’t panic if there’s a delay between installing the tiles and grouting. A substantial stoppage isn't a problem, provided you keep the tile surface clear of dust and debris. Also, avoid walking over less stable ungrouted floor tiles as they are more prone to premature cracking and shifting.

Installing kitchen countertop tiles on a mold and moisture-resistant cement backer board is one of the best options. When fitted correctly on top of a plywood base, it’s stable and long-lasting. Old-fashioned cement board is economical, cuts neatly and easily with a circular or jigsaw, and screws into plywood without any difficulty.

Yes, it’s always a good idea to keep a box or two of spare tiles after a home renovation project. Tiles can crack from improper installation, heavy foot traffic, and impact from drops. Having some extra tile on hand can make replacement fast, easy, and affordable. Plus, some manufacturers might discontinue particular colors or styles, and slight variations in tile colors between batches could mean mismatched tiles even if your product isn’t discontinued. Having a few spare tiles in storage can help avoid these issues, as well.

When cleaning porcelain tiles, avoid products that contain ammonia, bleach, and other harsh chemicals. Acid-based cleansers can damage the tile, though you can clean them with a diluted mixture of one-quarter cup white vinegar mixed with one gallon of hot water. It is important always to use a soft-bristled brush or sponge, since hard bristles and steel wool can scratch the tile.
