"When it comes to installing laminate plank flooring or ceramic or any other kind of tile Mark and his crew are very very knowledgeable and meticulous in their work. Also very fair in their pricing. I'm sure that you won't beat the quality of the work nor the price. Mark installed approximately 2000 square feet of laminate flooring and 400 square feet of terracotta tile along with prepping the floors and taking all the existing materials up. I could go on so let's just say I'm very pleased."

"We were delighted with Matt and his quality of work on our bathroom remodel. We hired Legacy to take over an ongoing project when our prior (non Angi) contractor left us mid-project. Matt was able to salvage a poor start from previous guy and achieve our vision. He was patient, detailed and worked hard every day. He laid tile for our floor, shower, and half wall while also installing a free standing tub and repainting our vanity. I would definitely recommend Legacy Refinishing and Tile to anyone. We were very demanding and Matt delivered. Before and after photos show going from dull contractor brown to updated modern bathroom."

"Domingo was the best!!!!!!! he was on time and he took his time making sure all the floors were done perfectly. I live in a 101-year-old house and after Doming re-surfaced my floors. They look better than any new floor I could have purchased hands down. DOmino is Amazing and I would Hire him again and would recommend him to anyone who needs their floors done!!! "From my consultant Latoya, to the installers, Douglas and Johnny, this was a great experience! They were all very professional. Latoya was patient while I was trying to make a decision on the new carpet. Douglas and Johnny were on time and came in and got the job done quickly. They removed the old carpet, put down new padding and carpet. The new carpet feels so good under my barefeet! I would use Empire again, and would recommend them for your flooring needs,"

"Trevor and his team did a brilliant job with the renovations of the house that was not in good shape prior. He was communicative and available to chat at all times to provide updates. The attention to detail on all tasks is what impressed the most. He was flexing with his pricing and got the job done before estimated completion date. I would definitely use his services again."

"I hired Phase Construction based on the reviews I've read about them. Now I am joining the other reviewers with a "5" rating for the job Phase Construction did for my apartment. They helped with bathroom, kitchen remodeling, wood floors and tiles installation. It was a big task that was excellently solved by Mr. Williams, Phase Construction. He always came with good advice, reasonable price and great work. I would hire them again for any house projects. Thank you."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Tile costs vary by material; for example, ceramic tends to be more affordable than stone. These influence installation timelines and skill requirements.

When working on your bathroom floor tiling, you should always tile the floor first and then refit the toilet afterward. This has both practical and visual advantages—the tile will have a better seal, and the installation will look cleaner.

On the other hand, when you try to cut the tiles to fit around the toilet, you’re putting yourself at a disadvantage. It’s a lot more work, it’s hard to be precise, and mistakes or miscalculations can lead to future moisture damage to the tiling, grout, and subfloor.

The number of boxes of tile you need depends entirely on the amount of tile in each box or case. Different manufacturers package their tiles differently, and boxes contain different amounts of tile depending on the size, shape, and material. Often, the amount of area that a case will cover is listed in the product description. To calculate the number of boxes you need, take the total square feet of the space and divide it by the number of square feet the box will cover.

When tiling over concrete, you should install an anti-fracture membrane after the concrete has been prepared. The anti-fracture membrane acts as a moisture barrier and should be installed to protect the tiles from moisture which helps maintain their integrity. Often, Ditra, a brand name, is used interchangeably with moisture barrier.

Tiles last for around 100 years or more. Tiles on backsplashes can last even longer since they’re less likely to crack under foot traffic or from accidental drops, but even tile in high-traffic flooring can last a century or more with proper installation and upkeep. Porcelain tiles are denser and stronger than standard ceramic tiles, so they’ll last longer, often pushing past the 100-year mark.
