"AMAZING! Everyone I interacted with in the company was exceptional. Craig, who did the work on my home, was always early, courteous, professional and knowledgeable. Very apologtic when there was a scheduling issue and did all they could to resolve it quickly. I really enjoyed working with the company."

"I recently worked with Skinner Development Inc on my kitchen and bathroom remodel projects. I'm extremely satisfied with the results and am so excited that I finally have a new kitchen and master bath. Their team was reliable, efficient, and attentive to my needs throughout the entire process. The attention to detail and craftsmanship were exceptional, and they completed both projects on time and within budget. I highly recommend Skinner Development Inc for any home renovation project."

Small jobs welcome

"I needed some light fixtures fixed and some other handyman work around the clinical office and at home. I called for services to be done and this company was reliable and prompt for the services. I did not need to supply any materials or equipment to get the work done. I would recommend this handyman service to anyone looking for a reliable professional handyman who is very efficient."

"It was great dealing with everyone here. I contacted them for a quote to replace our kitchen sink and alter the drainage pipes below. I sent pictures and described everything I wanted done and they were able to give me a very reasonable quote and scheduled a time to come out. Everything went as expected and the work was done pretty spot on with what they estimated. We'll definitely contact again when we need something fixed!"

"We hired him to put flooring down in our bedroom. He did such a great job, we have decided to hire him to put new window frames up, a door frame and to also re-build our closet as well. I recommend using him. He does not disappoint"

Barndominium Builders questions, answered by experts

In the U.S., original and converted carriage houses are most often found in New England, New York, and other parts of the Northeast. New construction carriage houses can be found across the country, and are often added to properties with Colonial-style homes for additional living, storage, or work space, although they can be found in many different styles.

It’s much less expensive to build a house with wood. This is because wood is relatively inexpensive, strong enough to endure decades or even centuries of weathering and pressure, and is easier to replace if there are issues. The cost of stone houses are incredibly expensive, heavy, time-consuming to build, and difficult to repair.

A steel frame costs 10% to 20% more than a wood frame. Wood is a much easier material to work with, more accessible, and generally more affordable than steel—plus, you need specialized tools to work with steel.

Pole barns and carports are similar in that they rely on posts for support and are often not connected to a primary structure. The main difference between the two is that pole barns usually include walls that surround the entire perimeter of the structure, while carports generally remain open on three or four sides. It’s possible to insulate garage doors and even exterior walls on pole barns to create a comfortable workspace, and it’s a bit more secure for storage purposes. However, carports are more affordable.

Building a tiny house is the least complicated way to build, especially if you’re tackling the project as a DIY. The smaller size means less complex plans, more straightforward utility installation, and fewer ways to make costly errors. Tiny homes still need to conform to building codes and often have other applicable regulations, so be sure to get the proper permits and confirm your build is by the book.
