"Blake from Spence Plumbing was great. I had a leak coming from my toilet so I gave them a call. He was at another job site but came to my house immediately after. He fixed the issue quickly and was extremely reasonable with price. I trusted Blake completely, which is something I can’t say for other companies! Will definitely use them again if something comes up!"

"Justin and Braden were actually skilled plumbers, not handymen. They made sure to tackle the problem at the source and not just patch it up with a quick fix. They were able to come out and repair the problem the same day as well. Very respectable and kind young men."

"Sunset Plumbers provided prompt and accurate service. He knew exactly how to resolve the issue and pricing was affordable. He was able to resolve an issue with sewage backup that others were never able to fully fix. My husband and I are beyond pleased and happy we can now utilize our toilets and tub"

"They referred me to another company because they felt they could not resolve my problem. I appreciated them being honest and not continuing and charging extra when they knew it needed more than they could resolve. Also they gave me a list of three different septic companies. Very helpful. I would definitely call them again."

"

This is the second time we needed Advanced Plumbing Services to help us.

This time we had a drain blockage on the second floor bathroom that resulted in the toilet drain blocking, and the shower water to essentially flood out from under the toilet.

John came immediately to address the problem, cleaned the blockage, and got the drains flowing again.

We initiated a service request and Jason responded immediately.  He put us on his schedule for 7/15/14, arrived at the appointed time and repaired our leaky shower faucet in the bedroom and installed  new toilet handles in two bathrooms.  He was professional, informative, and polite. He lets you know the depth of the problem and materials required for repairs. His work is EXCELLENT!  We will definitely use Jason Faircloth for future projects.

"Perfect - called me beforehand to get a complete understanding of what we needed done. He arrived exactly on time and had the exact materials to complete our service request. Very professional and efficient he completed the job in an hour - and we are now using our new dishwasher and ice machine. We tried three other plumber services before we were lucky enough to have Tanners Service Plumbing take care of everything we needed done. He will be our first choice if we have further plumbing needs. Excellent service and value!"

Toilets questions, answered by experts

If you notice water coming out of the bottom of your tank or the flush handle, you obviously have a leaking tank. Water on the side of the tank can indicate cracks. Other signs include the toilet running and flushing without anyone touching the handle, needing to jiggle the handle to make the water stop after flushing, or needing to hold the handle down to empty the water tank.

Most toilets have a 12-inch rough-in or hole, but some have 10- or 14-inch holes, which means that not all toilets fit all setups. Knowing how to measure the rough-in is essential, so you purchase a toilet that fits the existing drain hole. It can be costly to have the rough-in moved, and most stores don’t accept toilet returns.

Most toilets weigh between 50 and 100 pounds, depending on the material, size, and style. Some toilets can be disassembled into multiple pieces, which can make them easier to carry and dispose of. If you’re concerned that a toilet is too heavy to remove and lift on your own, enlist help or use a dolly to support the weight rather than carrying it yourself.

Many plumbers include removing and disposing of the old toilet as part of their service package. However, it’s best to ask before signing a contract, as removal isn’t guaranteed. If the plumber doesn’t take the old toilet, you have several options, including donation, recycling, junk removal, and bulk waste services..

The cost of making a bathroom accessible can be $3,000 to $25,000, but you could spend as much as $50,000 building a brand-new ADA-compliant bathroom. Some bathroom accessibility upgrades to consider include:

  • Installing grab bars: $100–$500

  • Lowering cabinets and vanities: $1,200–$2,500

  • Installing modified doors: $700–$1,500

  • Installing a modified toilet: $400–$1,000

  • Installing an accessible sink and faucet: $100–$1,000

  • Adding a walk-in tub: $1,100–$17,000

  • Converting a bathtub into a walk-in tub: $350–$1,000

  • Installing a wheelchair-accessible shower: $2,000–$7,500

  • Installing a shower ramp: $16–$300
