"Magdiel was truly a pleasure to work with and we are thoroughly grateful for his review of our home. I had many concerns and he looked at and addressed them all. He never made us feel rushed even though he came on a Saturday morning. He was even kind enough to suggest we not pay for the report as he didn't feel it was necessary. We would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a structural engineer."

Customers say: Quick response

"I called Stephan Vest Engineering Company because I needed a Structural Plan for my sunroom and shed. I had previously hired another company for a site plan but the Building Inspectors kept denying me for various reasons. A friend told me I should call a Structural Engineer so I chose Vest Engineering. Choosing them was the best decision I could have made plus their pricing was much more reasonable compared to other Engineering companies I had called. Stephan came out to my home and did his inspection, took measurements and made suggestions . When I received my Structural Plan, it was seven pages and very thorough and professional. I took it to the City Building Inspectors and they approved it. I was elated. I would highly recommend Stephan Vest Engineering Company if you need this type of work done. I am one happy lady!!! Thank you Stephan for your outstanding service."

"After talking to many companies about a problem we had that we weren't even sure what was going on, I feel fortunate to have found them. Floors Sag or Shake knew exactly what was wrong and how to fix it on my description alone. Their work was excellent and quick and they worked within our specifications (for budget reasons we needed to do the finishing work ourselves and they handled the demolition and structural repairs we needed handily).

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

In Atlanta, you’ll find structural engineering firms for complex projects, as well as general contractors with structural expertise for residential or commercial needs. Specialized contractors include foundation repair experts, concrete specialists, steel fabricators, and masonry professionals. Some focus on historic restoration or reinforced masonry, making it easier to match your project with a contractor experienced in Atlanta’s unique building requirements.

Helpful?

Before starting a structural engineering project in Atlanta, arrange for a soil analysis to identify clay or rock issues, and review local zoning and building codes. Mark all underground utilities and coordinate with utility providers early. Choose contractors familiar with Atlanta’s climate and building styles, and set aside a contingency budget. Avoid launching major work during Atlanta’s peak rainy season to minimize weather-related delays.

Helpful?

In Atlanta, most residential structural engineering projects, such as minor foundation repairs, are completed within a week. Larger renovations or structural upgrades can take several months, while commercial projects may extend beyond a year. Factors like permitting, weather interruptions, and historic district requirements can impact timelines, so building in extra time for these Atlanta-specific considerations is recommended.

Helpful?

In Atlanta, hidden costs in structural engineering projects often stem from unexpected soil conditions like deep clay layers or unanticipated rock, which may require specialized foundation repair. Weather delays from sudden storms can extend project timelines. Additional expenses may arise if environmental assessments are needed or if utility lines require relocation, especially in older neighborhoods with complex underground infrastructure.

Helpful?

In Atlanta, structural engineering maintenance should focus on monitoring foundations for shifting due to expansive clay soil, regularly inspecting steel components for corrosion from humidity, and sealing concrete surfaces to protect against freeze-thaw cracking. It’s also important to clear drainage systems before heavy rains and check expansion joints after hot summers. Scheduling annual inspections by local professionals helps address Atlanta’s unique climate and soil challenges.
