"I'm very happy that my condo bedroom windows now open and close easily. They are the original windows from 1972, and I greatly feared they would have to be replaced. Their repair tech first came out to do an assessment of the problem. He had to order parts, and his return visit was today. He got the job completed and I couldn't be happier, and also relieved that no window replacement was needed. 5 Stars!"

"This company beat another competitor by 3K, for the same windows. They were punctual and worked very efficiently; they were clean and cleaned up after themselves, both inside and out. They took great care not to damage our outside plants. Their work was professional, their care instructions thorough. They were always available for questions and scheduled our appointment around our availability. The entire family-owned company exemplifies customer service; always polite and accommodating. Although I hope I do not need to replace windows or doors in the near future again, I would use these guys anytime!"

"We needed to have the some of our window balancers replaced. Adam was the first to contact us immediatly, everyone else was a day late. He knew exactly what to do and explained the process. Did the windows he had part for and completed the job the next day. I would highly recommend this provider as he shows up on time and get the job done."

"My experience with Window Wall staff could serve as an industry model for delivery and installation of windows, along with excellent customer service. I had 17 windows replaced, 4 of which were half circle arches. Although I was initially advised the removal and replacement activities would take several days to accomplish, the installers worked with incredible agility, completing the project in one day. Window Wall staff respected my home and furnishings, covering furniture and cleaning as they worked. I am very critical of contractors at my residence, anticipating only quality products and services. Window Wall exceeded every aspect of my expectations; I highly recommend them for any new windows engagement."

Windows questions, answered by experts

Use a high-quality caulk with silicone around your windows, as it’s waterproof and shrink-proof. Or, you can use a caulk consisting of polyurethane or acrylic if you want to be able to paint over it. Caulk made from silicone is not paintable. Avoid using inexpensive caulk that has a resin or oil base. These caulks will not last long and may shrink and pull away from the window as temperatures go up and down.

The biggest disadvantages of low-E windows have to do with cost and, depending on your personal taste, appearance. Low-E windows cost more than traditional windows—typically between $300 and $1,000 per window, plus installation costs. Though they can save you money in the long run, low-E windows have a hefty upfront price tag. Additionally, low-E windows have a slightly different look than traditional windows. While some people don’t notice it, others say the low-E coating gives windows a hazy look.

The best way to clean outside windows is by using a garden hose. Start by spraying the windows with a high-pressure stream to clear off loose dirt and grime. Then use a mixture of hot water and dish soap and scrub the windows with a sponge. Rinse off the soapy water with the hose. Before you finish up, spray the windows with a solution of vinegar and water and wipe them down with a microfiber cloth.

Yes, you can fix windows without replacing them. However, this will depend on the severity of the issue and what your needs are. Minor water damage, broken glass, damaged casing, and worn caulking are usually easy repairs. But if there is excessive damage, the windows are constantly foggy, or the windows are very old, it’s best to consider replacing them. Replacement windows cost between $575 and $1,475 per window, or an average of $850 per window.

The rough opening refers to the framed space in the wall where the window will be placed. That means the full size of the space will be filled with both glass and frame once the new window is installed. For a standard window, a rough opening adds 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch to both the length and width.
