"Gene Weldon was a pleasure to deal with. I have 5 large oak trees on my yard that I have been caring for over 20 years. I've learned the hard way to only hire a qualified arborist to care for my trees. Gene understood what I wanted and they showed up with the correct equipment and a quality crew. I am well pleased with their work."

"My yard was a mess and I did not know where to start. Trees have fallen, rotten tree trunks and trees were also growing into the fence and into my neighbor's property. I was referred to Tucker's tree service by a close friend and I am so thankful. Tucker came out looked at everything and gave me an affordable estimate. He was quick to respond, professional and understanding. He did the tree cutting, grinding and hauled away everything. I would not hesitate to use his tree company again nor would I have a problem referring him to anyone. When I was asked to leave a review on here for him, I felt like it was the least I could do for all his help."

"Roger and his crew did an outstanding job trimming several trees and removing a large laurel oak tree that was aged out and too close to the house - risky during storms. They were so good at maneuvering equipment and bringing down large limbs without damage to fencing, the pool cage or other nearby trees. On time, removed debris and cleaned/raked area. They have been my go-to tree service for years and never disappoint. Fair estimate/excellent work!"

"I’ve used MJ Family Tree Service multiple times now, and they’ve done an excellent job every single time. They’re always professional, on time, and the quality of work is top notch. Most recently, they trimmed a large tree over my driveway and did an amazing job. They were very careful with the work, cleaned everything up thoroughly afterward, and left the area looking great. It’s hard to find companies that are this reliable and consistent nowadays. I highly recommend MJ Family Tree Service to anyone needing tree work done."

"The Tree Feller trimmed two big oak trees in my back yard and they look great. The crew was very professional and did an awesome job cleaning up. They even raked the leaves and removed a pile of dead branches that had fallen previously. I would recommend The Tree Feller to anyone looking for a true professional who is honest and dependable."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

The best time to transplant a tree is when it is dormant. For many trees, this means either in the fall after the leaves have dropped (around October or November) or in early spring before new growth begins (around March). The ideal timing can depend on the type of tree. Deciduous trees do well when moved in early spring or fall, while evergreens are best transplanted in early spring or late summer. For example, pine trees are best moved in early fall, but maples prefer late fall. Avoid transplanting in winter, as the frozen or hard, cold soil poses a significant risk to the roots and prevents the tree from acclimating properly.

While trees can grow in the curb strip between the sidewalk and the street, this placement often poses the problem of interfering with overhead power lines. It’s best to consult your local utility provider and tree planting service before transplanting a tree that might grow into power lines. Also, you should never work within 20 feet of a live power line to avoid the risk of electric shock. Tree branches should never touch nearby power lines, so it’s essential to ensure your tree isn’t in danger of growing too close to them.

No, you cannot plant a tree above a gas line. Tree roots grow and spread over time and can sometimes dent, crack, or penetrate a gas line. Those same roots may also cause accessibility problems for maintenance or repairs. You can generally plant vegetation with non-invasive root systems, low-growing vegetation, and flower beds near gas lines.

You should avoid cutting off the top of mature cherry trees. This process is called tree topping, and it’s not recommended for cherry trees—or any trees, for that matter. Tree topping removes between one-third to half of the length of the tree trunk, resulting in structurally unsound, fruitless suckers. The only exception is for saplings. Young pie, sour, and tart cherry trees that are over 30 inches tall in the fall or winter before the tree blooms can benefit from heading cuts.

For Bradford pears, damage from storms is common, and if the trunk splits, it can pose a danger to people and surrounding structures. The best thing to do in that instance is to have the tree removed. If there’s only minor damage to the branches, pruning away the damaged parts is the first order of business. You may also want to consult a professional arborist to make sure the tree is healthy.
