"I recently had the pleasure of working with Terramar Industries Inc. for the installation of eight new windows in my home, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with the results. From start to finish, their professionalism and attention to detail were evident. The installation was seamless, and the quality of workmanship exceeded my expectations. Joe, the owner, was a delight to work with—friendly, responsive, and genuinely committed to ensuring the project met all my needs. His hands-on approach and clear communication made the entire process stress-free. It’s refreshing to encounter a business that truly values its customers and delivers on its promises. I highly recommend Terramar Industries Inc. to anyone in need of window installations. "It went great. Other merchants couldn't locate the wheels to replace the broken ones on our shutters. But Chad Goldstein did so. His service was great. He arrived on time, finished all work diligently and efficiently, and the final bill was lower than any of the other vendors I contacted for estimates. All shutters now work perfectly! Chad worked to complete our job, even though it was raining. Very polite, friendly. I will use him for all my future shutter repair and cleaning. He really stands out!!"

Egress Windows questions, answered by experts

An egress window is similar to a regular window. However, this type of window opens fully to allow people to escape the home or rescue personnel to enter the home if an emergency occurs. Egress windows are required in all finished basements before they can be considered a living space.

There are a range of egress window types available, including:

  • Single-hung: $100–$400

  • Double-hung: $250–$500

  • Horizontal/sliding: $150–$800

  • Casement: $200–$500

  • In-swing: $350–$700

When choosing a type of egress window, consider how you’d like to open it. For example, double-hung egress windows open from top to bottom and let plenty of fresh air in, whereas sliding windows slide open for easy access.

Egress windows are typically required for basements with habitable space or living quarters. Not all basements or lower levels require egress windows. However, egress windows are required in homes with living spaces such as bedrooms and living rooms in a basement. The International Residential Code and International Building Code require sleeping rooms to have a specific size egress window. Check your local building codes to confirm the requirements in your area.

When you need new windows depends on a variety of factors, including the age of your windows, the age of your home, and the climate you live in. If you’re dealing with budget constraints, you don’t need to replace all your windows simultaneously.

When buying new windows, you should consider energy efficiency, safety, and aesthetics to choose the right window for you.

Yes, egress windows must meet local building codes for size and accessibility. Professional installers ensure compliance.
