After asking us about our concerns, Gavin inspected the home inside and out, measured, evaluated the levels and gave us his expert recommendations. "It went great. Other merchants couldn't locate the wheels to replace the broken ones on our shutters. But Chad Goldstein did so. His service was great. He arrived on time, finished all work diligently and efficiently, and the final bill was lower than any of the other vendors I contacted for estimates. All shutters now work perfectly! Chad worked to complete our job, even though it was raining. Very polite, friendly. I will use him for all my future shutter repair and cleaning. He really stands out!!"

"I needed to get my ceiling repaired in the kitchen and Dining room area due to water damage. They came out and gave me a fair price for what I was looking for. The came out on the day they said they would and were on time. They made every effort to make sure I was happy with the work. I compared their prices with others and found them to be extremely fair and honest. I've done this type of work before so I knew what I was asking and immediately knew who was giving me the run arounds. I am very satisfied with the work and highly recommend them."

Egress Windows questions, answered by experts

You install a window well 8 to 12 inches deeper than the base of the window sill. After filling the well with drainage rock, the well should sit 3 inches below the bottom of the window. The top of the window well should also be at least 3 inches higher than the surface-grade ground. The window well should be about 6 inches wider than the window opening.

There are a range of egress window types available, including:

  • Single-hung: $100–$400

  • Double-hung: $250–$500

  • Horizontal/sliding: $150–$800

  • Casement: $200–$500

  • In-swing: $350–$700

When choosing a type of egress window, consider how you’d like to open it. For example, double-hung egress windows open from top to bottom and let plenty of fresh air in, whereas sliding windows slide open for easy access.

The entire window replacement process, from the initial consultation to the final installation, typically takes between four and 15 weeks. This timeline accounts for measuring appointments, ordering, and manufacturing. On the day of the job, the physical installation takes about 30 minutes to two hours per window. A full-house replacement can take one to three days to complete. Factors that can extend this timeline include the total number of windows, custom sizes, complex window types, second-story installations, and any necessary repairs to existing window frames or openings.

Adding windows to a house is expensive. Budget roughly $5,800 to add a single window, and double or triple that to add two or three. In some cases, adding a single window can exceed $20,000, depending on the type of exterior wall, the size of the window, the type of window, local permit costs, and other factors.

When you need new windows depends on a variety of factors, including the age of your windows, the age of your home, and the climate you live in. If you’re dealing with budget constraints, you don’t need to replace all your windows simultaneously.

When buying new windows, you should consider energy efficiency, safety, and aesthetics to choose the right window for you.
