"Jason was so professional and on time. He fixed a broken toilet, two doors and put together a bed frame I bought. He also took some garbage and old boxes I had to the dump for me. He was smart kind and very professional. Definitely going to be using him for all my future projects! Thanks Jason!"

"Shane and Bob both showed up when they said the would and did a great job on our massive handyman project. They painted our garage floor in a new epoxy, they did gutter work, they painted interior and exterior. They fixed broken parts of our fence, repaired damaged drywall from our kids, fixed conduit that was broken, repaired a leaky faucet and much more. Everything I threw at these guys they could handle. You should have full confidence in their ability to handle your job and trust that they’ll give you a fair price for good work."

Handyman Services questions, answered by experts

Aside from a professional light installation company, there are a few other pros who may be able to help you hang Christmas lights. Along with specialty holiday decorators, a handyperson near you can also hang Christmas lights (and can fix that pesky drippy sink while they’re at it). Either way, not all of these pros will offer the service, so be sure to call ahead and get multiple quotes before you hire.

The cost to hire a handyman can vary, with most charging on a per-hour or per-project basis. On average, expect to pay between $50 and $150 per hour, with a typical rate around $90 per hour. For project-based work, the average cost is about $400, though the total can range from as low as $180 to $1,500 or more. Some handypeople may also require a minimum flat rate, such as payment for two hours of work.

Several factors influence the final cost, including:

  • The type, size, difficulty, and complexity of the job

  • The amount of time the work takes

  • The handyman's experience level

  • Your geographic location

  • The cost of materials and any necessary permits

  • Accessibility of the work area and potential travel costs

Additionally, you may encounter higher rates or extra fees for emergency services or work scheduled during holidays.

Hiring a handyperson offers several benefits. They can save you time and hassle by completing tasks you may not have the time or experience to do yourself. A key advantage is ensuring the project is done correctly, which can prevent future issues and save money in the long run. For projects that pose safety risks, hiring an experienced professional is a much safer option. Additionally, handypeople are often more available for smaller jobs that larger contractors may not have the schedule for.

Yes, you can use a dremel tool to cut plexiglass. Follow the instructions under “How to Cut Plexiglass with a Saw,” and use a dremel tool with a 561 bit instead of a saw.

You can tackle hanging Christmas lights yourself with the right tools, accessories, and a trusted friend or neighbor. You’ll need to purchase a ladder ($100 to $300), clips ($10 to $20), hooks ($10 to $15), and lights ($25 to $100 per string).

Otherwise, you should hire a trusted holiday light installer near you. You’ll pay an average price of $200 to $650, but you’ll have peace of mind knowing that the job is done correctly and safely.
