"It went great. Other merchants couldn't locate the wheels to replace the broken ones on our shutters. But Chad Goldstein did so. His service was great. He arrived on time, finished all work diligently and efficiently, and the final bill was lower than any of the other vendors I contacted for estimates. All shutters now work perfectly! Chad worked to complete our job, even though it was raining. Very polite, friendly. I will use him for all my future shutter repair and cleaning. He really stands out!!"

Egress Windows questions, answered by experts

Egress windows require regular maintenance to ensure they function correctly. This includes cleaning the glass, inspecting the frame and well for debris, and making sure the cover or well drains properly. It is also important to check that the window sills and wells are watertight and to inspect and repair any damage to the window frame or seals to prevent leaks and maintain functionality.

There are a range of egress window types available, including:

  • Single-hung: $100–$400

  • Double-hung: $250–$500

  • Horizontal/sliding: $150–$800

  • Casement: $200–$500

  • In-swing: $350–$700

When choosing a type of egress window, consider how you’d like to open it. For example, double-hung egress windows open from top to bottom and let plenty of fresh air in, whereas sliding windows slide open for easy access.

Yes, you can install a bay window in an existing house. You’ll need to have a structural engineer draw up plans to add the necessary support to your exterior load-bearing walls and a general contractor to make the changes to the framing around the new wall opening. This will cost an average of $3,000. After that work is done, a window installer can set the new bay window in place.

The cost of window installation depends on several factors, including the window type, size, and frame material. Labor rates, the need for custom sizing, and any required structural modifications will also influence the final price.

Depending on size, material, and labor, two windows can cost between $600 and $1,600.
