"Kris is the consummate tile pro you want to hire. He is a consummate professional who works diligently to make sure you are completely satisfied with his work. He explains each step from demolition to installation and doesn’t leave the job completed until YOU are satisfied. He provided my wife and I photos of a dozen tiles for us to chose from. Included in his very affordable price was bringing our chosen tiles and cement and grout with him. He works neatly and takes care to leave the surrounding area and surfaces the way they were when he began the service. If you are in need of tile or marble repair or replacement this company is the only one you want to hire. Kris comes highly recommended!"

"We just had a kitchen update done by Anthonyâ s Custom Kitchens. From the minute I contacted Anthony for a quote to the last day of the install he never ignored me or left me waiting for an answer. My texts and phone calls were answered immediately. I was always confident that Anthony would follow through on everything that I asked for. His goal was to make me totally and completely happy. Kudos to Francois, in particular, who not only did an amazing job on what could have been a difficult tile to work with but he did anything else I asked to make the kitchen perfect. We would totally recommend Anthonyâ s Custom Kitchens. Michele O."

Customers say: Quality work

"Review by Sandra Steck in Boca Raton.Fl Andrew Hillestad came at 9:30 in the morning and gave me a fair quote and he said he could also do the job cleaning my tile grout . I was so pleased that he got it done in record time and I thought I had purchased a new tile floor! It was beautiful and Andrew was extremely professional and I am so happy that I made the right choice in choosing Andrew and will use him again. I will highly recommend him to my friends and you will not be disappointed ! Thanks Angie's List!!!!!! '"

"I returned from vacation and found my terrace tile all uplifted., Evidently due to a cold front! I called John from Family, Tile and Marble who I had used to re-grout my apartment very successfully. John came, gave me a price, and proceeded to restore my Tile as if New. I can’t say enough about him and his company he is honest, and takes pride in his work. I highly recommend Family Tile and Marble without hesitation. You will not be disappointed."

"The install team was a father and son. Mario, the owner, was a nice man who delivered on his promise. Everything from the estimate to the time to complete was accurate. The workers worked very fast but with good quality. They showed up on time and worked past 5 pm. They installed flooring in the entire house in about two and a half days. The quality of their work was A-1. I would recommend MP Floors Inc. to my friends and family. Also the workers, Henry and Santiago acted professional and seems like nice, humble people."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, cracked tiles allow water to seep through the substrate or subfloor, leading to mold and mildew growth. It can also cause severe structural damage. At the very least, water damage can cause your tile to lift from the substrate, meaning one cracked tile can lead to several cracked tiles. It’s a good idea to waterproof tile in areas with direct water exposure or lots of moisture.

When choosing between porcelain and ceramic tile, the best option depends on your specific needs, budget, and project application. Porcelain tile is generally more durable, denser, and harder than ceramic, making it a good choice for busy, high-traffic areas. It also offers superior moisture resistance, making it ideal for moisture-retaining spaces. However, porcelain is typically more expensive, and its hardness can make it brittle, potentially causing it to crack if a heavy object is dropped on it. In contrast, ceramic tile is a more budget-friendly option with lower material and installation costs. It is softer and easier to work with, making it a great choice for DIY projects. While not as durable as porcelain, ceramic is still a quality material suitable for many home applications, particularly small, decorative projects.

Generally speaking, it is better to cut tile wet when using a fast-moving wet saw to reduce dust and chipping. However, tile can be cut dry when using just about any cutting tool. Dry cutting will result in a bigger mess and may increase the risk of chipping or cracking, but if you’re just making small cuts, dry cutting is a safe and viable option. Cutting dry also means you can apply tile grout sooner, so it’s better for rushed projects.

Travertine is a natural stone, while porcelain is ceramic. You can enjoy the best of both worlds with porcelain travertine tiles. Some people prefer porcelain to travertine because it doesn’t require regular maintenance and it’s easier to clean. Porcelain travertine looks like the real thing but only costs $3 to $6 per square foot.

You can attach tiles to a wall using thin-set mortar. You’ll also need a notched trowel to create grooves within the adhesive so it flattens completely when pressed in and securely holds the wall tiles. Finally, you’ll need grout to smooth the gaps between the tiles and, ideally, a grout sealer to prevent mold. While it sounds simple enough, proper planning and execution are crucial, so carefully review the steps in this guide or hire a pro tile installer to complete this project.
