"Kris is the consummate tile pro you want to hire. He is a consummate professional who works diligently to make sure you are completely satisfied with his work. He explains each step from demolition to installation and doesn’t leave the job completed until YOU are satisfied. He provided my wife and I photos of a dozen tiles for us to chose from. Included in his very affordable price was bringing our chosen tiles and cement and grout with him. He works neatly and takes care to leave the surrounding area and surfaces the way they were when he began the service. If you are in need of tile or marble repair or replacement this company is the only one you want to hire. Kris comes highly recommended!"

Customers say: Quality work

"Lad is a genuine tile artist. We used a very expensive Thassos Marble Mother of Pearl Mosaic tile for our backsplash. Lad installed it as if it were his own personal masterpiece. It is simply gorgeous, the grout color was on point and his customer service was incredible. Stop looking THIS IS YOUR TILE MAN! Randi Rhodes"

"The gentleman did good work. He replaced a sliding door with a wall and smaller window. Then installed new cement board covered with tile Had a sub-contractor install the shower controls. Did nice finishing work around the walls. Now the downsides. I did offer him the use of extra 2x4?s in my garage, but he helped himself to other plywood and supplies found in my garage. Raided my tool box for tools he should have had. Does not clean up after himself, left my wife?s vanity a mess. Likes to add more billing at the very end not covered under contract. Overall, I would rate this as 3 out of 5."

"We had a great experience with ProTileWorks from start to finish. They installed a backsplash in our kitchen and also completed a full bathroom renovation. We are so happy with the results. The craftsmanship, attention to detail, and quality of their work truly exceeded our expectations. They were professional, reliable, and kept everything clean and organized throughout the process. Both spaces look beautiful, and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Highly recommend them to anyone looking for top-quality tile work!"

"Well I will start off I was very nervous to give someone 1st payment while I was in N.Y and the work that was being done was in Florida. I met Steve over the phone and I just liked what he said i felt that he was honest and he cared about my project... So going forward he pretty much gutted my whole place. Floors, paint, bathrooms... I am a very picky person and want things perfect ... Steve returned every phone call, Steve went over and beyond back and forth to home depot waiting for all the things I purchased. He took lots and pics and videos. I had a little problem with my HOA with the wood floors it was the first time putting down in my complex and since it was very hard for me to take care of this as I was still in N.Y Steve did it for me...So I am very happy with how everything came out and I will hire him again. Thanks! - Mamie."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

The rule tells you how to cut tile to install it in a corner. The 3/4/5 rule recommends that you should have 3 feet across on one straight line, four feet on the other perpendicular line, and 5 feet of length from the end of one of the lines to the other. You’re making a right triangle with the tile, and the hypotenuse (the line across from where the 3-foot lie and 4-foot line meet) should be 5 feet long.

It’s possible to walk on a clay tile roof, but you run the risk of breaking or cracking the tiles if you’re not careful, so it’s best not to walk on it if you can avoid it. If you or a contractor needs roof access, be sure to distribute your weight evenly and step on the portions of tile that are also supported underneath, which depends on your tile design. Walking on any roofing material is inherently dangerous, so wear rubber-soled shoes and use safety equipment if you need to access your roof.

You can let the tile sit without grout. Don’t panic if there’s a delay between installing the tiles and grouting. A substantial stoppage isn't a problem, provided you keep the tile surface clear of dust and debris. Also, avoid walking over less stable ungrouted floor tiles as they are more prone to premature cracking and shifting.

For glass tile, you want to use unsanded grout. Sanded grout is a stronger and grittier cement grout that is great for installing tiles with wider gaps and into joints. However, it is susceptible to scratching glass tile and is more difficult to use in thinner gaps. Unsanded grout, while more expensive, is easier to fit between thin gaps and is less harsh on delicate materials, like glass tile.

As long as you follow the instructions on your peel-and-stick tile packaging, it should not damage your walls. A possible instance when you may accidentally damage your walls is if you install tiles improperly using additional adhesives that aren’t recommended.

Also, you can damage your walls if you’re not careful when removing tile. For example, you could accidentally make holes in the drywall with a paint scraper if you don’t heat the adhesive long enough before trying to pry it off.
