"We invited three companies to call us; our main criteria was fast service to replace a ceiling fan, because the existing fan was leaking oil. Mr. Sparky called immediately and said they could be there the next day; well, the next day (Friday) arrived and they called to say they couldn’t make it, and would re-schedule us for Monday. Henry Electric never bothered to call. In-Phaze had also called, so we scheduled with them for Monday and cancelled Mr. Sparky because we felt they were playing games with us. In-Phaze’s electrician showed up on time, and did a beautiful job; he had to install a “fan box” in the ceiling to bring us current with code, which involved a bit of attic work … even cleaned up his mess. We would call them again."

"Crew,Mike & Riley shows up on time ready to go to work. We go over work with them and they did already know what the job was. Mike worked on moving the light switches while Riley started on removing old kitchen ceiling lights and installing new LED can lights & a new pendant light over sink. All work was completed by lunch time and professional done. Loved working with power usa. The people are always easy to work with and they will explain things to so even I can understand how it works. I have used this company several times since moving to Florida a year and 1/2 ago."

"Ben installed 2 "fandeliers" in the bedrooms. He was on time and very professional. He took old fans to dispose of them. Very knowledgeable, answered all our questions. Friendly, personable and was able to do the job immediately. Will be hiring him again for our next project."

"Went great. The electrician showed up right on time, reviewed the work and got it done. Fan looks really good. Electrician gave good advice on both a cable matter and whole home surge protection and I am having them come back to install that. (Power surge killed my original rung doorbell it’s last sad picture was of a stormy sky)"

"This is the best experience I've had with a contractor to do work at my home. I had a brand new build home and he installed 7 fans and wired doorbell. He was extremely friendly, flexible on my schedule, affordable, and did exceptional work. He left no mess and hauled away all the boxes and packaging. I highly highly highly recommend for any electrical work you need done. He is underrated and will impress you!"

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Many ceiling fan-rated electrical boxes tend to be made of metal. However, some electrical boxes may also be made of heavy-duty plastic that is reinforced with metal support structures. It may also have an attachment that connects directly to a ceiling joist. If you are ever ensure, consult with a licensed professional to get their insight on best practices and whether the installation is a safe one.

If you’re replacing an old fixture with a ceiling fan, you usually won’t need a permit, but if your electrician runs new wiring for the fixture, you likely will need a permit. Building permits are necessary in most municipalities if you’re making changes to your electrical system, so even if you have partial wiring run to the area and need new wiring installed for added functionality, you’ll probably need a permit. Your electrician should be able to let you know if you need one, and they’ll typically file the paperwork for you.

Fans not turning on, wobbling, noisy motors, or faulty remote controls are common issues requiring repair.

If your home already has wires for a ceiling fan (and optional light kit), then it’s quite safe to wire and install it yourself. Always be very careful to shut off the power before you begin, and confirm that the power is safely off with a non-contact voltage tester before touching anything. It’s also highly recommended to use eye protection, rubberized gloves, and tools with rubber handles to keep yourself safe from electric shock.

Ceiling fans are very often worth the investment because they improve comfort in your living space and help reduce utility bills. In the late spring and early fall—and even in the summer in some areas—homeowners with ceiling fans can often get away with open windows and fans, which can cut down on cooling bills and also reduce wear and tear on the HVAC system. Over time, ceiling fans can pay for themselves by saving you money on electric bills and air conditioner repair and maintenance.
