"Dex came out and did a thorough inspection of the house, showed me the options and quoted me a good price. Mike and his assistant showed up on the scheduled day bright and early and knocked out 7 piers in just over 3 days. The main wall they were working on had all the utilities and the guys didn't disturb a thing. When they were done, they cleaned up everything and left the yard in amazingly good shape considering all the big holes they had to dig. Lux was not only very competent and professional, but they were genuinely very nice people. I highly recommend Lux for all your foundation needs."

He has repaired several masonry issues on my house, and all of his work has been high quality - both in terms of thoroughness and attention to detail. Your home is in good hands with him!"

"KNS roofing responded to my call in one day. I own a two-story house with a complex roof. Within minutes, KNS knew what the problem was and immediately repaired the roof and stopped the leak. This was important because I was installing a new living room ceiling. The materials they used were modern and top-notch. They have more than thirty years of experience and it showed. They are friendly, professional, and wanted to solve my problem. I have used them twice and I have been satisfied both times. I highly recommend this roofing company."

"Took multiple attempts to get the repair to blend with existing ceiling. Steve stuck with it and now it blends adequately. The white paint matches unless it is a very bright day, you have a very critical eye, and know where to look."

"The plumber showed up exactly on time. He was professional and evaluated the work to be done and gave me a price before beginning the job.  The plumber (Boyd) was very friendly and got right to work to complete the job.  He took away all the plumbing debris and the the job neat and completed.  I would definitely hire them again.

"I contacted the provided on Friday after finding them on Angie's List. I have a house on the market and j have neglected the yard work. I have several showings lined up for this weekend and needed the yard mowed, edged, the driveway blown off, the flower beds weeded (they were completely overgrown), the gutters cleaned, and some trees trimmed back that were growing on the roof. They came out same day and provided me an estimate. We negotiated back and forth until we agreed on a price. They came back out the following morning and completed all the work in time before the first showing came. They did a great job and I will definitely use them in the future.

Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts

While "dry" mode on your AC can help reduce humidity levels to some extent, it may not be as effective as a dedicated dehumidifier, especially in areas with extremely high humidity or larger spaces. Dehumidifiers are specifically designed to remove moisture from the air more efficiently, making them a better choice for tackling persistent humidity issues.

The primary downside to crawl space encapsulation is the high cost, which can be several thousand dollars. Additionally, the process can make future repairs more complicated by limiting access to plumbing and electrical wiring within the crawl space. Encapsulation also requires sealing off any vents, which can be a disadvantage for home designs that benefit from the airflow they provide. It's recommended to consult with a crawl space contractor to determine if the benefits outweigh these potential drawbacks for your specific home.

The most cost-effective foundation repair is using masonry patches and sealants to seal foundation cracks and offer some support to prevent further damage. These methods are used to fix minor foundation cracks quickly. However, they’re not suitable as a long-term solution, and they only offer minimal stability. On average, masonry patches and sealants cost $500, but a sealant like an epoxy crack injection can total over $2,000. If you’re handy and only looking for a temporary solution until you contact a local foundation repair contractor for a more permanent one, you can save hundreds by DIYing this repair.

A sump pump can remove excess moisture from under a house if standing water is present. Other ways to protect your crawl space from moisture include installing a vapor barrier, using a dehumidifier, installing insulation, and using a fan to dry the space. Finally, keeping your gutters clear of debris and positioning your downspouts away from the home’s foundation can prevent moisture from getting into the crawl space in the first place.

Whether your homeowners insurance covers slab leak repairs depends on your specific policy and the cause of the leak. Many policies cover slab leaks resulting from a covered peril, such as a natural disaster, a falling tree, or pipes freezing and bursting within the slab. However, damage caused by invading tree roots, corrosion, or leaks from appliances may not be covered by a standard policy. It's a good idea to also check your home warranty plan for potential coverage if an appliance is the source. Contact your insurance provider for a full explanation of what your policy covers.
