"The H&L crew did a phenomenal job removing our nasty old insulation (we think it's been there for 75 years!) and installing new blown-in insulation. They arrived right on time, finished in about 3.5 hours, and cleaned up in our home as if it were their own. And the price was fair. Highly recommended. Photos show before and after."

"This company beat the socks off another company I considered. For one fee, Green Energy removed ALL the blown in and batt and rolled insulation. On the second day, they installed the spray foam. I had another contractor look at the job - and he said he wished he had hired them for his house. If Green Energy had a yard sign - because I would proudly display it. Sweet people and an excellent job. So glad for this recommendation."

"I reached out to Insulation Nation after they did my neighbors house. Our home looses cool air like you have never felt, and we we were constantly running the A/C on high to get away from the awful Florida heat. My neighbor suggested we get new/more insulation installed and oh my goodness what a difference it makes. We are not constantly running the a/c now, and the house stays cool for a very long period of time. The team Jen sent over was very respectful, did a good job cleaning up after themselves, and obviously did a wonderful job insulating our home. I would recommend them to anyone looking for insulation services/installation."

"Owner, James was awesome. He is a man of his word and was able to get my job done on short notice. Another contractor stood me up twice but James came through. I have since recommended him to several friends. Highly reliable."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Minimal maintenance is required, though regular inspections to ensure insulation hasn't shifted or deteriorated can improve performance over time.

In some cases, yes, insulating an unheated garage can lead to mold and mildew. The issue with insulating a garage is that the interior will warm up and cool down more slowly than the exterior air, which can cause condensation inside the space. Where there is moisture, there is likely to be mold and mildew over time. Installing a vapor barrier can help avoid moisture and mildew problems in an insulated garage.

Insulation is professionally installed by measuring spaces, cutting materials to fit correctly, and placing them without gaps for optimal thermal resistance.

To keep cold out, look for treatments that sit close to the window frame and are made from thick, insulating materials. Thermal curtains, cellular shades, window quilts, and insulated shutters can all help retain heat. Layering window treatments, like pairing lined curtains with cellular shades, can provide even better insulation by further reducing drafts and heat transfer.

There are many reasons one bedroom may be hotter than the rest of the house. The sun will quickly heat a south-facing bedroom with a large window, especially if it lacks quality curtains. If the room has poor insulation, this could let more warm outside air in. Upstairs bedrooms are often hotter than ground-floor rooms because heat rises. Finally, rooms further away from the air conditioning unit may heat up a lot if the system is not properly balanced.
