"Max was on time for the appointment. The issue with the internet was quickly resolved. Programming the Harmony controller to operate he new to market combination (bluray  /dvd, sound bar and radio) Phillips equipment to work with the DirectTV and TV set took considerably more time and effort as the codes were not available at the Harmony website (every button had to be entered by hand).  Its now working just the way I that had hoped for."

TV Antenna questions, answered by experts

Regular maintenance and protection against weather extremes enhance longevity.

Costs range from $100 to $500, depending on the issue, parts needed, and labor.

Annual checks for damage or misalignment and ensuring clean connections.

If you’re having problems with poor reception, here are some simple tips that may help improve the signal and picture quality.

  • Consider the position of the antenna: Could it be higher, is it secure, or are nearby obstructions interfering with the signal? For a directional antenna, you may need to reposition it in the direction of the broadcast tower.

  • Move any metallic objects: Metal can interfere or block reception, so if you have stainless steel objects or the antenna is near a wrought-iron fence, this could be a problem. Try to keep the antenna at least six feet away from metal objects..

  • Cable length: An overly long cable can reduce signal strength. If you don’t need as much cable as you are using, it may be better to exchange it for a shorter one.

Before investing in a TV antenna repair, there are a few steps you can take to help boost your signal quality. Removing obstacles like tree branches can help improve your signal strength. Along the same line, moving an indoor antenna away from obstacles can also help. These should be near a window, as high as possible. If these steps don’t work, speak with a TV antenna technician about a signal amplifier to help boost your signal even further.
