"Total Home was my choice over 4 other quality roofers and I have no regrets. Their salesman, AJ, was great. He took us through the whole process and treated us like a family member. The crew that performed the work was outstanding. They were courteous, hard working, and cleaned up every day. We had some slight warranty work because it rained every day during the installation; Total Home responded immediately, performed small repairs to our family room ceiling and matched the ceiling finish perfectly. I recommend Total Home to all my neighbors and friends."

"The gentleman were prompt and very courteous. They worked diligently and made sure that I was completely satisfied with the work. The price was very reasonable, and they did a great job! They went above and beyond what was required. They provided helpful information about places for purchasing a ceiling fan. They paid such close attention to details during the work. They also made sure that the work area was left clean and tidy after repairs were done. I will definitely call Honeybears Home Repair for other projects."

"Ryan was fast, precise, and excellently priced. He painted my second bedroom and installed a new ceiling fan. Everything turned out 10/10 and would definitely hire again for any of my future needs."

"Unbelievable, finally a professional that loves what they do, is friendly, polite, professional, on time, and focused on getting the work done when on the job no slacking. This starts with the owner and extends to the help he has. They took care to move all furniture and delicate items away from the work area, blanketed the whole area and when done placed everything back just like they were never there. Had them come back a week later to help hang a ceiling fan, fix/install hanging light, and an outlet. Work is outstanding, price is fair and reasonable what else can you ask for. Bevard Power and Electric will be my go-to and I highly recommend them. They truly stand by no job too small. Thanks for your honesty and professionalism!!"

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

To determine if your ceiling box can support a fan, you must check if it is specifically fan-rated. Manufacturers are required to indicate this on the box itself. You may need to remove the existing light fixture to look inside the ceiling box for an inscription stating it is rated for fan use. If you do not see this confirmation, the box is likely not strong enough and must be replaced with a fan-rated junction box. For a proper and safe installation, you should also use a fan brace to secure the new box between the ceiling joists, which provides the necessary support for the fan's weight and motion.

Coffered ceilings often come with additional embellishments and accessories, including tin panels, medallions, trim, molding, recessed lights, and finials. Whether you’re looking for a simple grid pattern or want an elaborate, decorative ceiling with all the bells and whistles, there are plenty of options to choose from.

Many ceiling fan mounts feature a design that can accommodate slight slopes by using a ball joint mechanism at the end of the downrod. If your ceiling has a steeper slope than your fan allows for, you can install a downrod that will allow your fan to safely hang below the slope.

Installing a ceiling fan where no wiring exists is a difficult and potentially dangerous job that should not be attempted as a DIY project. It is recommended to hire a certified electrician to build the necessary electrical infrastructure. In some areas, building codes require this work to be done by a professional to ensure safety and compliance. Due to the complexity, this type of installation is a significant job that could cost up to $2,000.

If you’re replacing an old fixture with a ceiling fan, you usually won’t need a permit, but if your electrician runs new wiring for the fixture, you likely will need a permit. Building permits are necessary in most municipalities if you’re making changes to your electrical system, so even if you have partial wiring run to the area and need new wiring installed for added functionality, you’ll probably need a permit. Your electrician should be able to let you know if you need one, and they’ll typically file the paperwork for you.
