"I recently had the pleasure of engaging Spartan Solar Panels for my home's solar energy needs, and I am thoroughly impressed by their outstanding service. From the very beginning, the team at Spartan was nothing short of professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely dedicated to providing the best possible experience. What truly set Spartan apart was their commitment to educating me about solar energy. They didn't just come in and install panels; they took the time to explain every aspect of the solar panel system, how it works, and its benefits. Their detailed explanations were clear and easy to understand, which was incredibly helpful in making an informed decision. I can't recommend Spartan Solar Panels highly enough. Their combination of expertise, customer education, professionalism, and a clear focus on cost-saving solutions makes them a top choice for anyone looking to switch to solar energy. A hearty thank you to the Spartan team for their exceptional service!"

"Rep. checked entire system. He found several wires not connected properly and fixed this. He also made recommendations regarding the attachment of the panels to the rood that would provide more stability and leakproofing. The representative appeared to know what he was doing - much better than others, including the representative who was engaged by the roofer (who replaced our rood due to hail damage) to disconnect/connect the panels."

"Great communication from the start. Every step of the process was taken care of in a professional way. All the reviews said that SunPower panels are the best so we were going to go with them regardless. Glad the service was great too. I referred some of my relatives and friends."

Solar Panels questions, answered by experts
  • Installing a new electrical meter box

  • Replacing your meter base

  • Replacing your service entrance cable

The cost to install or upgrade an electrical meter box ranges from $100 to $650, including $50 to $250 for the unit. The meter base passes the power from your electric company to your panel. The cost to replace a meter base is roughly $50 to $250.

Service entrance cables are electrical cables with multiple wires, bringing power from electrical companies to residential buildings. The cost to replace a service entrance cable ranges roughly from $1,000 to $1,500.

The morning sun can be better for solar panels because it’s often brighter and clearer than the afternoon sun. The brighter the sun, the more energy solar panels produce. The strongest rays occur during midday, which tends to be prime time for solar energy generation. Most homes get a mix of morning and afternoon sunlight.

Rooftop solar panels supply energy to a single household, where a solar farm can power multiple homes at once with clean energy. Residential rooftop solar panels cost more per watt with a lower project total, and those panels only service the residence they are installed on (in most circumstances). With a solar farm, multiple households can buy into the project and share the overall cost.

Insurance companies aren’t against solar panels, but they may have concerns about the risks and costs of insuring solar. The type of policy, where you live, and the insurance company itself matter. Extreme weather can damage solar panels, and faulty installation or electrical malfunctions pose a fire risk—this, in turn, can increase insurance company liability and payouts. However, you’re likely to keep coverage as long as you have a pro install the solar system, keep it maintained, can pass a solar panel inspection, and update your homeowners policy to include solar.

The average homeowner needs around 22 solar panels, but the exact number depends on your monthly energy consumption. Your solar professional should size your array to offset your consumption, meaning you’ll need fewer panels if you use below-average amounts of electricity, or more than 22 if you use above-average amounts of electricity. The number of panels also depends on the output of each panel. The average is around 400 watts, but you might need more panels if you install less capable equipment. Since there are so many variables, you should have a professional size your system.
