"I have an old septic tank in Lady Lake that hadn't been serviced for years. I called Sunshine Septic, and the young man who came to talk to me (whi is also the company owner) showed himself to be polite, professional and expert. The septic tank was pumped out (both enclosures), the old filter was checked and cleaned, and the good operation of the drain field was checked and confirmed. I definitely recommend this young company and its owners for such services. I'll be using them in the future too!"

"We would recommend them to anyone. They are quick and they do a great job. They last came on a Saturday at 6 in the evening because we had no water. They came within 20 minutes and were done in less than an hour. Their prices are fair. They are very responsive and very punctual. They are really good; they are the best."

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

Drilled wells have a pipe sticking up that’s covered in a plastic or metal casing. On the other hand, a dug well will look like a big hole in the ground and is more similar to what you’d see in a fantasy or Western movie. If you want to be sure, contact the city for documentation on your property’s construction and excavation history.

There are many reasons you may want to extend the depth of an existing well or drill a new, deeper well on your property. A deeper well can tap cleaner water sources—shallow water may contain more contaminants. With a deeper well, you’ll also have an easier time reaching the water table depth (the level at which underground water is found) and can get past tricky soil conditions.

Plus, if your local building code requires a minimum well depth for safety and environmental standards, you’ll meet the code by digging a deeper well in the first place.

With proper maintenance, most types of septic systems—including mound, evapotranspiration, and constructed wetland systems—can last up to 40 years. To keep your system running as long as possible, follow basic septic tank upkeep guidelines, like pumping your septic tank every three to five years and only flushing human waste and toilet paper.

Drain fields often include three to five trenches that are 18 to 24 inches deep. The pipes connecting the drain field to the septic tank will be placed between 12 and 18 inches deep, and the field as a whole will be about 100 feet long.

Unfortunately, yes. If your well pump continues working when the flow of water is completely blocked, the motor will burn up. The energy has nowhere to go, thanks to the blockage, so it turns inward. The end result? A ruined well pump and a depleted bank account (once you shop for a replacement.)
