I have been a licensed plumbing contractor and business owner since 2010, and a licensed general contractor since 2018. My experience in the trades dates back to 2001, and I have owned and operated a plumbing and HVAC service company since 2010.\n\nWhen you hire Water Safe Construction, you are not getting a service technician or employee—you are working directly with a licensed contractor and company owner. "Could not be happier with the service provided by Ed and his team. Ed is easy to talk with, doesn't BS around, and provides a fair price estimate (lower by far than the other three companies from whom I received quotes). The install team led by Bryan installed the system quickly, and the work was top quality (included diverting the main line to side of house and partially burying the tank). I would definitely work with Ed again, and highly recommend Ed and his team for all your water softening needs."

"they filled in the old septic tank and took out two citrus trees . We finnally decided we didn't need a saw to cut them just strength to carry them to the front . It is still rocky where they filled it in and we haven't planted grass. we may need some good black dirt . too bad that wasn't in with the project . the sand is rocky so not really sure. The once a year treatment, we will oi call , I am glad it only took a day. there was something stuck in the pipes because would have put this project off for a while but found out after.he said c and c would be there but we called . because toilet wouldn't flush at all. after they put septic"

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

Septic tanks naturally have bacteria that break down some of the solid waste in the septic tank. However, sludge buildup is just part of owning a septic system. While liquid wastewater can be filtered and treated through the system, a septic tank company has to pump the septic tank out at least every few years.

It only takes a few days for a septic tank to fill with water after a pro has pumped it. This is completely normal, and the water is a vital part of your septic system’s wastewater treatment process. The water that fills your tank days after pumping is not the same as the tank being filled with waste. You shouldn’t have to pump your septic system more than once every three to five years unless you have a tank that’s too small for your home’s water output or there’s a problem with your leach field.

How deep your septic system needs to be into the ground depends on several factors. In extremely cold environments, the tank needs to rest below the maximum frost line, which can be up to six or eight feet deep. The standard burying depth for most systems is between a few inches and four feet below ground level. Depth can also depend on the slope of the landscaping and other property variables.

You may notice a septic smell in your yard after it rains if groundwater is entering your septic tank and causing it to overflow. If you experience septic odors after rainfall, contact a licensed plumber. They can construct a drain to redirect rainwater away from your septic tank.

Yes, shower water goes into the septic tank. Shower water is a type of greywater, and in fact, all water used in a home with a septic system—including water from sinks, toilets, the dishwasher, and the washing machine—drains into the tank. When shower water enters the tank, debris like soap and hair travels with it. The solid debris sinks to the bottom to become sludge, while soap residue joins the scum layer at the top. The remaining water is treated in the tank before moving to the drain field for further treatment and dispersal. It is important to avoid putting oil or harsh chemicals down any drain, as they can cause clogs or disrupt the beneficial bacteria required for proper wastewater management in the septic system.
