"These guys took time from their busy schedule came to my residence on Easter Sunday to give me a price on repairing insulation mess left by previous contractor. They arrived next day and completed the insulation work and did an excellent job at an excellent price. My thanks to Sagittarius air seal thanks again, Michael Duffy."

"If you want someone to do a project in an unfinished basement, I would recommend Right-Way. However, if you want someone to do this work in a room with special conditions, as we did, I would not recommend them. The sales person was very professional and up-front. The workers were very pleasant and cleaned up fabulously after their work. They did a good job with the actual installation. They also demonstrated how to use everything very well. Our complaint is that we carefully explained to everyone that they were working in a finished room with a carpet that was not a basement (that was obvious) and that the walls were going to be deeper after we had insulation installed in the room. However, they installed the sump pump was too close to the wall without enough room for regular 2x4 studs and sheetrock and there was a cleanout that was also too close and stuck up so that we could not replace the carpet. The workers were also told to carefully remove the molding and paneling because we wanted to reuse it. Either they were not very careful or there was some other problem, but there was little we could use. Although someone came back to remove the cleanout and recessed the access to the sump pump, the bottom line is that it isstill partially under the new wall and our contractor (who spoke to the workers before they started jack-hammering the floor) had to do extra work to put the room together. I feel that whoever planned the job didn't think through the fact that we weren't going to use the cleanout in the first place (who would bring a hose into a finished room?) and that you need at least 4" clearance for a 2x4 studded wall. We do now have a room that is a lot more protected from water and everything is back where it should be, but it was a lot more complicated than it needed to be."

"I can?t say enough good things about PeakPro Insulation! Before they came out, my attic wasn?t insulated at all and my house constantly fluctuated in temperature. When their team arrived, they introduced me to solar radiant barrier insulation. The difference was noticeable immediately. After the job was done, every room in my house finally felt consistent in temperature, and even my attic felt cooler while they were working up there. On top of that, they left the attic looking beautiful and clean. Highly recommend"

"Roberto was the technician and he was very professional, polite, and personable. He inspected the rest of our system and told us things that needed to be changed or repaired. He showed me pictures of everything. Everything he told me about was accurate. He quoted me a price for R38 insulation , Some of our ducts were plastic and he recommended them to be changed. I agreed completely and didn't know they were plastic. I would have had them done the work but I had no price comparisons to make and besides I didn't have the money right then. So he just finished the vent cleaning and left his card. He did a great job on the vent cleaning and was happy with the work."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

The best time to insulate a garage ceiling is when the weather is mild and dry. That means it shouldn’t be stormy, snowy, or raining, and the temperatures should be comfortable. Ideally, you’ll insulate your garage ceiling in the fall, before winter hits. Not only will you be the most comfortable, but you’ll also likely see the greatest energy savings heading into the colder weather with a newly insulated garage.

For standard 2x4 walls, the ideal insulation has an R-value between R-13 and R-15. This level of insulation, typically around 3.5 inches thick, fits well within the wall cavity. Common options include fiberglass batts and spray foam. The best choice for your home can depend on your climate; use R-value maps, like those from Energy Star, to determine the recommended level for your region. For colder climates, you might also consider adding exterior insulation for greater efficiency. Always check with your local building codes to ensure you meet any required standards.

Hanging a thick blanket over your windows will help to keep the heat inside, but only a little. Covering the glass will also prevent the sunlight from getting in, which might actually decrease the efficiency of your window overall. If you get to the point where you’re hanging blankets over your window to keep warm, call in an expert to seal around your windows to prevent warm air from escaping. They may also recommend replacing old windows that aren’t as insulative as newer window technology. Sealing a window isn’t terribly expensive and can make a big difference.

You can insulate an existing garage door. But while it’s a cost-effective option upfront, it may not perform as well as a garage door that comes with insulation. If you live in a colder climate—or if you plan on working in your garage and need a new door—you should purchase one with existing insulation for better efficiency.

Insulating an unheated garage can still be worth it. For instance, insulating an attached garage can help with heat loss from your house in general, and it can also make it easier to store electronics in your garage without worrying about them being exposed to extreme temperatures.

If you use your detached garage as a workspace, insulation can still make a difference. Plus, you can use space heaters and a window unit AC to help condition the space while you work without installing heating.
