"I hired First State Bath for converting a bath tub to a walk-in shower. I feel so thankful to them from introduction through job completing. They listened carfully to my requests and proposed a small suggestion, but it turned out very special to my need. It was choice of 54" long instead of 60". It adds space for easy moving in the bathroom. It might have no impact to most people, but is very helpful and special in my situation. The project is worked out very well with on time, clean and high quality. They did great job at very reasonable cost."

"Don Volkert and his crew did a fantastic job on the complete remodel of my master bath! The result is exactly what I wanted and is so pretty it should be in magazines! He has great ideas for incorporating your thoughts into the finished work, and thinks about the little things you are not aware of. He is patient to deal with from start to finish. The crew while working also does a great job with keeping the rest of the house clean which is much appreciated. I highly recommend Don Volkert and his crew!"

"A replace my shower did very good work just don’t care for the finance company. I won’t recommend them to my friends and family. Just don’t go with the finance company. I feel as a rip off or a scam."

"R.A Barker did a great job with the work we needed done around our house. We had multiple jobs that we needed complete. We needed the exterior doors of our house replaced, a bay window replaced, and new attic steps put in. With all of the jobs there were some fixes that needed to be done from original installation. R. A. Barker handle all of that and fixed the issues left from previous work. He was professional, knowledgeable, and thorough. I would definitely recommend R.A. Barker to anyone looking to have work done."

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

While tubs are fairly sturdy, you may notice cracks or holes. This kind of damage can happen from someone accidentally dropping something heavy into the tub. You might also see damage if you drop something heavy into the tub over and over again (like your extra large bottle of body wash). While you might only notice a small dent at first, this can later turn into a crack or a hole.

Also, certain cleaners that are harmful to your tub can cause damage. And if you have a fiberglass tub, you might see cracks if it was not installed properly with the right support.

Installing a clawfoot tub with a minimum of 6 inches of clearance from surrounding walls allows ample room for the faucet and pipework, makes cleaning easier, and reduces the chance of moisture being trapped between the tub and the walls. It might need to be closer if the faucet comes directly out of the wall.

Whether replacing a bathtub with a shower affects your home's value depends on several factors, with the most significant being whether it's the only tub in the house. Removing the sole bathtub can lower a home's value because many prospective buyers, particularly families with young children or pets, require at least one.

However, a tub-to-shower conversion can also increase home value. A modern walk-in shower is often seen as an upgrade in a secondary bathroom and can be a desirable feature for its accessibility and style, appealing to older homebuyers or those without children. The overall impact is also influenced by your local real estate market and its typical buyer demographic.

If your bathroom layout allows, installing both a freestanding bathtub and a separate shower can be an ideal solution that appeals to the widest range of potential buyers.

There are a few things you can do to keep your bathroom remodel as affordable as possible in your mobile home:

  • Ask your contractor to replace caulk and grout rather than retiling

  • Ask your professional to refinish your tub/shower rather than replacing

  • Upgrade your sink fixtures rather than replacing the sink

  • Upgrade cabinet hardware and ask your remodeler to refinish the cabinets

  • Avoid changing the layout of your bathroom

Completing a full standard bathroom remodel offers the best value, with an average return on investment (ROI) of 70%. However, you don't need a full remodel to make an impact. To maximize value, focus on key components like flooring, the tub and shower, vanity, and cabinets. High-value upgrades include installing a walk-in shower, resurfacing a tub, retiling, or expanding the shower. For more budget-friendly options that still increase value, consider repainting with a light, neutral color, or updating the mirror and light fixtures. It's also crucial to address any necessary repairs, such as leaks, mold, or cracked tiles, as buyers will notice these issues. Avoid flashy upgrades like bathtub jets or steam showers, which don't add as much value.
