"We recently needed to have trees taken down and trimmed on our lot on Aronimink. Two trees had to come down as they were dramatically hanging over the house itself. Two other trees needed to be heavily trimmed as one was also hanging over the house and the other was hanging over our neighborâ s house. We were very concerned that a heavy storm with strong winds would cause severe damage. Started the process a few months ago and the pricing was staggering. I recently went back to the search and found Golden Tree. They are a new company, only about a year old. Rodolfo, came and gave us a great quote that was almost half of what two other companies that do a lot of business in the area gave us. I asked for them to send me their business license, which they did within an hour of my email request. They also had their insurance company send me their insurance declaration page that had recently been renewed and was more than sufficient in levels. So we hired them. Wow! We could not have been more pleased. I was concerned as the other companies stated we needed a big crane because we sit up on a hill. When I asked Rodolfo about that, his comment was â they donâ t know how to climbâ . These guys KNOW how to climb! These guys were great. They showed up on a Thursday and Friday right when they said they would. Through the ropes, they brought down the branches exactly as they planned. It was quite a show. We never worried if there was going to be a mistake or a close call. Mid-Job, we decided to completely take down the two trees they were only going to trim. One for aesthetic reasons and the other because when they were up in the tree, severe cracks were discovered which could have been a disaster down the road. The additional charge was really minimal. Besides their thorough knowledge on what they were doing, they were very professional and focused on doing a great job. Besides showing up at 8am as they promised, when they left on Thursday, even though they were coming back the next day, everything was cleared and raked like they were finished the job. There was also no wood left on the street. The same was repeated when they finished up on Friday. Nothing left and everything raked, my roof was completely cleared. Just a top notch job. I am including a few pictures from the job. As a final note, I have no relation to Golden Tree and did not get any consideration for this review. Just trying to help others in this development. There are A LOT of Trees hereâ ¦lol"

"I would recommend LA's Quality Tree Service to anyone who wants a professional tree service After the blow of high winds left our yard with one 80 foot tree uprooted and crashing down on two other smaller trees and numerous other tree damage. Luis came out with in an hour after calling his company. Gave a very fair price. The crew came out the next day and started the clean up. They were on time every morning and worked two full days. Cutting down six trees (25' to 80') Lots of downed branches (some 25' long and about 18" thick) and grinded the tree stump. The whole crew was professional, cleaned up every evening. Thankful we found LA's Quality Tree Service."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Yes, pruning makes trees stronger because it fosters proper growth, weight distribution, and balance of the crown. By increasing the structural integrity of the tree through pruning, it’s less likely to experience disease, pests, broken limbs, and storm damage. Pruning the right branches and limbs is key to improving a tree’s strength and balance.

You don’t always need a permit to grind a stump, but you might need one depending on your location and the stump’s surroundings. Permits are often needed if the stump is part of a protected tree species, near public areas or utility lines, or close to environmentally sensitive zones like wetlands. Some cities also regulate noise and work hours. Always check local rules before grinding, and contact your city or county office if you're unsure.

Permits are often required for large tree removals, especially in urban areas or for protected species, ensuring regulation compliance and neighbor safety.

You can shape a cherry tree by trimming vertical branches, dense branches, and intersecting branches. Your personal aesthetic comes into play, as well. If you want to simply thin and shape the tree, you can get away with trimming the aforementioned parts of your cherry tree. If you want to shorten branches, however, consider thinning cuts, which alter the length of the branches while encouraging light penetration, new buds and shoots, and a structurally-sound shape.

Deciduous shade trees (the type of trees whose leaves fall off in autumn) need to be pruned in late winter—between February and March. That’s because it’s easier to find and remove sick or dead branches when no leaves are present. And wounds close and heal faster in colder temperatures so pruning them at this time also makes them less prone to infection.
