"I was very impressed with Merrifield, and the owner, Jeff.  I received four quotes ranging from 3000 - 4500, and Jeff came down on the lower side.  The painter was professional and punctual - he covered all of our furniture with tarp and left every room clean when he finished the work.  He also stayed late each day (until 6:30) even when arriving at 8:30 to start the job.  The paint looks great and I am very happy with the quality of the work.  Jeff is very accessible over email and phone - it is always great to have direct contact with the owner of the company when you have a question.
However, the thing that impressed me the most was when I got nervous about lead paint (I am pregnant and we live in an old house) because they had to lightly fix the walls where there were cracks.  I called Jeff at 7:00 PM the first night of the job and he reassured me that they are lead paint certified, talked me through the wall repair process, and they would not be disturbing old paint.  He was very professional and courteous about the call.  
Given the price and professionalism, I will definitely use this company in the future and recommend them to friends/family.

"Wilber and crew were fantastic! Estimate was straightforward, understandable and prompt. Crew was on-time to start the work, brought four people and knocked it out in a day. Three things really stood out: 1. They went out of their way to take exceptional care of our home while doing the work...everything from how they closed doors to how they tarped the entire home from the front door to the room in the back of the house. 2. The quality of the work - the crew was meticulous about cleaning up the walls, ensuring all outlets were removed, mirrors removed, etc. 3. "Working with Omar and his team was a pleasure. The challenge was to make sure that the window purchased/installed would be sufficiently large once opened to meet the current stringent code requirements for an escape/emergency-entrance window. The previously double hung window would not meet code. We wanted the window to be sufficiently large but not to do wholesale construction beyond what was necessary. Omar came to check the work to be done, returned to re-measure the window again, ordered/purchased/picked up the window and had a expert team of two install it. The workers had to enlarge the window opening, removing some of the cinderblock sections as well as build up the bottom of the window opening with concrete. They also installed a new attractive trim around the window on the inside of the room. During the installation, they also discovered and advised us, that the window well had to be enlarged to accommodate the window and provide an effective egress space. Omar charged only for the materials for constructing a new larger timber and gravel well. The work was done flawlessly, The advice provided was excellent. We were pleased with the transformation of the room. We are very pleased with the total results."

"George's painting, inc was responsive and professional from start to finish. The project entailed wallpaper removal from 2.5 bathrooms and kitchen, repainting those rooms; installing a tile backsplash and vinyl tile floor in the kitchen; replacing the kitchen countertop; repairing a cabinet; repairing drywall and painting the ceiling in the master bedroom. The owner came out to do the estimate himself. He was accommodating when I wanted to expand the scope of the initial project and came out a second time to give me an updated estimate. He was easy to reach via cell or email. The estimate was more than fair. His crew completed the job in three days. "Very responsive.  Met with me on short notice for an estimate while I was in town for a short visit.  It had been a rental property for 10 years and I live out of town but I wanted to fix it up for sale.  I felt very comfortable with his level of professionalism and compared him to other bids and found him well within range. He was also able to do the work of several contractors each doing one thing all under one contract and for a lower price than others combined.  He started work within two weeks of signing and stayed true to his estimated time line. 
 
He sent pictures of before and after the work and I am very happy.  He understood my budget limits and helped keep costs down but retain quality of paint, repairs and workmanship.
 
Inside the house we had carpet that, when removed, found there was more damage than expected.  He sent pictures of what he found and we talked candidly about changes to the contract with additional fees that were essentially at cost for materials with a small markup.
He was very helpful in keeping up communication with me, even being far away and letting me know how things were going and any decisions that needed to be made so I felt comfortable with the work being done.
I sent a property manager to review the end product with him and she gave high marks.  And she's a tough cookie.
Only problem is, now I wish I could move back in rather than sell it!
