When a contract is signed I have three payments (State of Connecticut recommends) 1st payment when contract is signed, 2nd payment half way thru job, 3rd payment when job is completed. It was not inexpensive by any means, but it was definitely a reasonable price given the quality of the work and materials. It took a few months beyond the six months stated in the contract, but we have come to expect this with projects such as this one, and we never pushed to have it done faster.
