small amount of water staining on the acoustic tile on the ceiling and
some moisture in one wall. When the insurance adjuster looked it over,
he figured that if just one 5 foot by 4 foot piece of wall board were
cut out and replaced, that should do it. (The bathroom had ceramic tile
floor to 3 feet high, wallpaper above) My wife treasure the wall paper
and the tile was perfect with it. And we had another roll of the
paper. So the ENVIROCHECK guy after taking samples here and there,
pulling wallpaper off and drilling out a couple samples from the wet
area, pries two of the border tiles of the wall. As he's leaving he
says "I took a couple of tiles but they were cracked anyway" He got
away before we discovered it was a lie. We had extras of the square
wall tiles but none of the border tiles. Net result: all four walls had
to be removed by asbestos remediation people and then rebuilt.
Thousands of unnecessary dollars. And a net result of losing my wife's
treasured decor. Just because he didn't ask if we had any spare tiles.
Stupid, dishonest, etc.
When we called and left a "where are those tiles" message, they, of course, never responded.
"Envirocheck was contact on February 4, 2013 to respond to a water loss [removed member name] property. This was at the recommendation of his insurance carrier and a water damage mitigation contractor he hired. We showed up on same day as we often do for emergency water losses. At the request and direction of [removed member name] and the mitigation contractor we tested select and specific building components suspected to contain asbestos that were planned for removal. The components were reportedly wet, damaged and had to be removed to facilitate proper and thorough drying. Our consultants are licensed by, and agents of, the CT Department of Public health. The testing we conducted was in accordance federal and state regulations. It would violate proper sampling procedure to collect and analyzed samples considered “extras” as [removed member name] suggests. Most of the work we do is emergency service. We do understand [removed member name], like many suffering catastrophic water losses, is very upset with the damage to his home. The corrective measures are time consuming, inconvenient and expensive even with insurance coverage. Any materials having to be removed was due to the water loss not due to the federal and state mandated sampling Envirocheck conducted. Envirocheck strives for the highest standard of professionalism and integrity. I hope [removed member name] can find a way to understand our involvement was to ensure the health and safety of his family. By testing these materials we were able to ensure the mitigation contractor did not inadvertently contaminate his home with asbestos containing materials. Patrick Lyons, Regional Operations Manager"
"Envirocheck was contact by [Member Name] on April 12, 2012 to conduct an investigation of suspect mold in the attic of her home she was trying to sell. [Member Name] asked us to bill the insurance company for the work. Once they agreed to pay the bill we booked the inspection the very next day. The protocol we follow for testing an attic involves collecting a surface sample from the attic, performing an air test in the primary living areas below the attic plus one outdoor control for comparative purposes. The purpose for collecting samples in this way was explained to [Member Name]. She agreed and signed our contract for this testing. We provided her with a report of findings including a recommended protocol for remediation of the mold problem in her attic. We do not perform mold remediation as that is a known conflict of interest in the industry. Envirocheck did not provide Mrs. Farrell with a $16,000 estimate. We are pleased she decided to get multiple estimates and found a contractor to execute our recommended protocol for a reasonable price. We understand [Member Name] was disappointed by the discovery of mold in her attic during the sale of her home. We performed the investigative service she requested, which untimely lead to the correction of the problem and the sale of her home. Our primary concern is the health and safety of occupants. Patrick Lyons, Regional Operations Manager"
