"Adam did a great, clean job installing our master bedroom ceiling fan, and bathroom exhaust fans. Everything was done quickly, and it all works, and looks great. And the quote/estimate he gave us was accurate and right on! We would definitely hire him again for any electrical needs. Thanks, Adam! We really appreciate your work."

"Great service and Mark was professional at his work and explaining the problem. It wasn't the fan in the master bedroom that went bad, and he suspected the circuit GFI was tripped. We spent a little time to look for the failed GFI and was able to locate it in an odd place. The diagnostic price was a little expensive though."

"I called Oliver Beer of Bauhaus because he had done work for us last fall. He gave me an estimated price that was agreeable. Once he started work he discovered, that like the windows he had installed in our garage last fall, the bathroom needed more work than estimated. Because my husband was going to be released from rehab in a matter of weeks, it was work that needed completion as soon as possible. Oliver worked week-ends and the 4th of July, for a total of 30+ days, removing the old plaster and putting up new wallboard. He got the old tub out and put in a beautiful shower floor; installed a new heating element; ceiling fan/light; a new medicine cabinet, flush and vanity sink. It took him more than 300 hours to give us a showroom quality bath. Incidentally, he painted our living room so that it would be comfortable for my husband to spend most of his time in. This older house challenged him at every project he started, whether it was the plumbing, ceiling lights or lack of outlets in the living room. i will certainly hire him if we need more work done in the done in the future"

"I was in touch with Phil (owner) of Home Facelifters the very end of April.  We made and appointment for a free estimate, within two business days he was at my home.  I wanted my living room, hall and kitchen walls painted.  Along with the ceiling which has a large skylight, doors leading into 3 other rooms and all the trim.  Phil's estimate was very reasonable especially considering the height of my ceiling and the troublesome skylight that had to be dealt with.  He was extremely helpful with picking the colors.  I was deciding between two shades of green for the walls, by the time he left I had picked One.  It would not have occured to me to change the color of the trim and doors but he suggested that I do and I LOVE it.  His workers Nate and Tom show up right on time.  Both were very hard workers and considerate of covering my carpeting, flooring, cabinets and exposed furniture. They finished the job on May 8th at noon.  All of my furniture was put back where it belonged and they even helped me to hang a large wall mirror and shelving.  I couldn't believe what a beautiful painting job they did.  It looked better than it did when I bought my condo Brand New 13 years ago.  Hire again................"in a heartbeat".

"It went very well. Two rooms needed new lines for overhead lighting, wiring replaced to the porch (which actually was in a very dangerous condition) and did a fair bit of work on our electrical box. Hoping to have him back in a bit to replace more and put in a new ceiling fan for the kitchen."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

If the fan doesn’t have a switch, connect the white wire from the ceiling to the white wire from the fan; connect the green wire to the ground wire; connect both black wires; and connect both blue wires. If yours has a switch, the white and green wires are connected the same way. However, connect the ceiling’s red wire to the light’s black wire and the ceiling’s black wire to the fan’s black wire.

If you’re removing a ceiling fan without visible screws, start by locating the fan canopy—a round cover placed above the fan blades and motor. There should be a thin ring that can be turned counterclockwise to remove the canopy and reveal the screws. After unscrewing the fan, you can disconnect the wires and remove the entire fan from the mounting hardware. For safety, make sure the fan switch is turned off before you remove the canopy. It may be easier to remove the fan blades first, too.

Fan power is measured by CFM, or cubic feet per minute. For every 1,000 feet of square footage in your attic, you need a minimum of 700 CFM. Steeper roofs may need larger fans or about 840 CFM.  You can figure the size of attic fan you need by multiplying the square footage of your attic floor by 0.7. (multiply by 1.2 for a steep roof and 1.15 for a dark roof). That number is the CFM required for your fan to run efficiently.

There are many types of ceiling fans available, each designed for different spaces and needs. Standard ceiling fans are the most common type and work well in most rooms. Low-profile ceiling fans are better suited for rooms with low ceilings. Smart ceiling fans can be controlled with a smartphone or voice commands. For larger spaces with ceilings between 10 and 25 feet high, large ceiling fans are ideal. Dual-motor fans have two motors to produce more airflow in multiple directions. You can also find energy-efficient or Energy-Star models that can be up to 60% more efficient, as well as fans with built-in lights or retractable blades.

The most efficient ceiling fan height is 8 to 9 feet from the floor to the fan blades. For ceilings higher than 9 feet, a downrod can be used to lower the fan to the optimal height. This positioning ensures adequate air circulation and maximizes the cooling effect. Remember, fans should be installed at least 7 feet above the floor for safety.
