"The gentleman who showed up was prompt and very courteous, but unfortunately that was the only positive thing I can say.He was here for 40 minutes, charged me 200 dollars and told me he couldnâ t fix it in my garage, because the oil was sludge and he may or may not be able to fix it, but he would have to take it back to the shop and it would cost me 80 dollars an hour to try to fix it.When I gave him a check for his time and asked for a receipt, he looked at me like I was asking for a kidney, and wrote something down on apiece of notebook paper, which was supposed to be a receipt. It was not an invoice with the company name or any reference to their business license.I later received an explanation from somebody in the office, that they would send me an invoice for the work done.I have never had any contractor not present a proper business receipt to me when I have given them a check, prior to this."

"The solar company I chose was one of the worst choices I have ever made. Vision Solar went Bankrupt and I had no one to help me when my system went down. I call numerous solar companies and no one would help me. Then I found Phase Out Electric it was an immediate yes after I told them what was going on. My inverter was bad and still under guarantee and they took care of getting it for me. I was kept well informed on what was happening. I will use them again if I have any more problems."

"They reached out quickly to me and discussed the job and arranged a time to come and give a estimate. Rob showed up on time and was knowledgeable and helpful. I accepted the estimate and arranged a time for the work to be done. Once again Rob showed up on time prepared to do the work. He complained the job in the amount of time given. The work that was done was well done and very professional. He was very helpful and easy to work with. Also he was able to answer any questions that I had. I would recommend them to do work for others and will be hiring them again for any future work that needs to be done. Thanks Rob. Appreciate the work you did."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Most 200-amp panels are allowed 40 breaker slots, though they can accept more circuits with the installation of tandem breakers. To determine the right number of breakers for an electrical panel, panel manufacturers will give their products a rating. That rating is used to limit the number of electrical circuit breakers on the panel. You can check your panel for a rating or ask your electrician to weigh in.

Unfortunately, aluminum wiring can overheat, leading to failing connections, splices, and even house fires. If your home has aluminum wiring, hire a local electrician to conduct a thorough inspection. While the safest option is to replace everything with copper wire, that can be very expensive. In some cases, your pro will be able to pigtail the connections by adding a short section of copper wire to each end of the aluminum wire. This is more budget friendly, but is only appropriate for certain homes.

Your breaker box houses the breakers that control the circuits in your home, shutting them off if they overload or experience similar problems. Your meter box houses your electrical meter that monitors the electricity flowing into your house and measures its use for your utility company.

In some cases, both components are in the same box, but they don’t have to be together. Many homes have them split, with the breaker box inside for easier access and the electric meter outside.

A water heater is one of the heaviest hitters in your home, and it needs as much power as possible to help it run efficiently and effectively.

Your water heater should be on its own dedicated circuit breaker, with no other power sources running to it. This is required to meet the National Electric Code–and to ensure it runs as efficiently as possible.

A multimeter does not measure frequency, charge, inductance, and other electrical quantities. Instead, it measures voltage (AC and DC), current, and resistance.
