"From the beginning, I found the email customer support provided by Lisa, the Contractors Home Applicance owner, exceptional. We needed a fridge to replace our dying 2003 GE, and we have a very narrow and shallow alcove in our kitchen to fit it in. Lisa provided excellent service through email working with us to find a fridge that would fit. Because if was during COVID, the model that would work for us wasn't available as the Fisher and Paykel factory had slowed or stopped production due to the pandemic. After helping us to find the right model, Lisa helped us obtain a $200 discount, and an extended five year warranty, and put the purchase through on MA tax free weekend, which brought our overall price down significantly. Lisa kept us posted on the order status and when models might be available. Although we had to wait a couple of months, we were informed about when we could expect delivery. She helped us get in touch with an installation tech who arrived at the same time as the delivery truck and hooked up the icemaker. The fridge is beautiful, fit perfectly in the space, and the temperature remains constant. Although Fisher and Paykel is expensive, they do seem to make a quality fridge, and their rebate and warranty extension (from 2 years to 5 years as long as you register it) was quite attractive. I can't say enough about the information Lisa provided ahead of our purchase with no guarantee that we would buy. You definitely want to do business with Contractors Home Appliance. The correct water temperature for your dishwasher depends on the washing phase. When water enters the machine, it should be around 120 degrees Fahrenheit, but no hotter than 150 degrees. During the wash cycle, the machine will heat the water to between 130 and 140 degrees. If your dishwasher has a sanitizing cycle, the water can reach a temperature of up to 180 degrees.

To create a siphon break and remove any chance of dirty sink water or water that backs up into the sink from getting into your dishwasher, your dishwasher drain hose needs to have a high loop or an air gap device as part of its installation. All building codes require at least a high loop. In many places, it’s necessary to install an air gap device to meet the code.

You can call your trash company to see if they offer curbside pickup of old appliances. You can also call a local junk removal service or rent a dumpster if you expect to have a lot of trash to dispose of. On the other hand, if your old dishwasher is still in decent working shape, consider donating it or reselling it on a local marketplace.

To clean an old dishwasher without a filter, start by removing the bottom rack to access the drain area. Use a damp cloth or sponge to wipe down the interior, paying special attention to the corners and crevices where food particles and debris can build up. Pour a cup of white vinegar into a dishwasher-safe bowl and place it on the top rack, then run a hot water cycle to help break down grease and grime. After the cycle, sprinkle a cup of baking soda across the bottom of the dishwasher and run a short hot water cycle to deodorize and further clean the interior. 

You should deep-clean your dishwasher every month for optimal performance. A simple scrub down using a homemade vinegar liquid solution is all you need, but don’t use cleaners that aren’t for dishwashers. 

If your dishwasher needs repair, expect to spend between $50 and $100 or $100 to $200 per hour to hire a dishwasher repair technician to service your machine.

Treat hard water with water treatment tablets to keep your dishes from getting spotty in between washes. Drop one of these into your dishwasher monthly and run a basic cycle with the machine empty.
