We chose the right company to remodel our kitchen when we went with Kitchen Counsel. Mike was great to deal with from the very beginning. He was up front about what could be done, how long it would take, his prices were reasonable and I was thrilled that I could have any color cabinets I wanted. He gave us a 5 week window for completion (of course, we have an older house, so I added two more weeks for unforeseen problems). The job was completed in 5 weeks – Wow! I have to say the best part of this whole experience was working with Mike's team. I can't say enough about how much John and Jack did for us during this process. They definitely went above and beyond the task and did a wonderful job. The cabinets are custom made maple, their doors are perfectly hung and balanced, the quality is perfect. I am totally thrilled with my new kitchen and would 100% recommend Kitchen Counsel for any job. Thank you sooo much Mike!!

Mike and has team were the easiest company I have ever dealt with. Mike is very professional and pays exceptional attention to detail. He did both our bathroom and kitchen from the 50s. Both now look very modern. I have heard horror stories of kitchens being left unfinished due to delays in manufacturing lately, mike wouldnt touch ours until he knew it could be completed quickly, this made the work extremely stress free. Value and work are top notch. I knew he was the right company to use on our first meeting and that never once changed through the whole process

Mike was the most thorough of anyone who came to price out the project. He provided detailed plans and material list. The work was done exactly as the time frame he provided said it would and for the exact price agreed upon up front. The workmanship was impeccable. Both his own and everyone he worked with. I would not hesitate to use him again. I have heard stories from friends on disasters they encountered in major kitchen jobs. This couldn't have gone smoother.

Mike and his team did an exceptional job remodeling our kitchen and half bath. Our family is thrilled with the new space. The new cabinets are awsome and the tile work is beautiful. Prices were reasonable and all work was done on time as expected. Mike was very responsive and his workmen were incredible professional. I would recommend Mike to anyone looking to remodel their kitchen or bath.

I had over 10 estimates on my kitchen and Kitchen counsel was by far the best. I hired Mike to redo my kitchen a month ago and everything was custom built and the price was reasonable. Mike is very patient, thorough and punctual. I chose him because of the reviews i read on here and he brought samples of everything when we had met. Would highly recommend anyone renovating their kitchen.

We just finished our kitchen makeover with Kitchen Counsel. We couldn't be happier with the outcome! It looks fantastic. From the initial visit to give us a quote to his final finishing details, Mike Talmadge was thorough, responsive and easy to work with. We obtained three quotes and Mike's price was very competitive. However, his standard of quality was very high. We love the cabinets and his suggested storage ideas have really made our kitchen seem bigger. This being our first redo, we were a little afraid of taking on such a huge project, but Mike guided us through the process and worked with our flooring contractor to make it a seamless transition. He and his workmen cleaned up each day so we weren't greeted with a big mess. Whenever we had a question or concern, Mike was speedy in responding and worked to make it right. I would not hesitate to recommend Mike and his team for any kitchen makeover. You won't regret it!

Mike Talmadge and his crew do amazing , quality work. We love our new updated kitchen. The quartz counter and red birch cabinets are beautiful. We are thrilled to not see those awful "popcorn" ceilings anymore. The recessed lighting and new ceilings are just we what we wanted. I'm sure the three words a contractor is not anxious to hear is " I was thinking"....but Mike answered all our questions patiently and promptly and tried to make all our requests a reality. We would most definitely hire Kitchen Counsel again.

A++++++++ is the grade I would give Mike and Kitchen Counsel. His work and products for a complex kitchen cabinet install (that involved covering 2 windows in order to have enough wall space in a smaller kitchen) is so beautiful and professional, it is awesome! Mike is easy to reach, and he responds to questions and comments--so fast. He is all about doing a great job. The result is so beautiful I will post photos soon. Also his staff is excellent as well, always cleaning up after themselves. Thanks Kitchen Counsel for my new beautiful kitchen!!. They def go the extra mile!

I don't usually write reviews, but I had to make an exception for Mike and Kitchen Counsel. If you are looking for someone who does quality work, is reliable, keeps to a time frame, is pleasant to deal with, stands behind his work and all this for a reasonable price, then call Mike at Kitchen Counsel. He makes suggestions when asked, listens to what you tell him and follows through always with a smile and "no problem". He completely redid my kitchen and was I am very happy with the job that he did. I am enjoying my kitchen very much!

Mike, his crew, and subcontractors remodeled a kitchen and bathroom in our ranch house that had not been updated since the 1950's. The project was extensive and challenging due to the poor construction when the house was originally built and added onto. The name of the company (Kitchen Counsel) is very appropriate: throughout the project Mike and his guys were helpful and patient guiding us through the many, many decisions involved in such a complicated process. We're very pleased with the quality of the workmanship in the finished project. We enjoyed working with Mike and his crew and would not hesitate to recommend them to our friends.

This is going to be a long review, but the short version is that if I could give six stars, I would. I wanted to freshen the kitchen which had Oak/Cathedral doors and poor hardware. We got an estimate from Sears. They had many nice features--lifetime warranty, but came in at about $21,000 for MFP "plastic" doors. The sales rep was nice and indicated that I wouldn't even want to hear the cost of wood as it was so expensive (she was right). I then rethought that if we just changed the door style, we might save money. Home Depot would not do this as they said if the doors didn't match, they wouldn't take the hit. They offered the same reface as Sears for about $16,500. I then called Mike at Kitchen Counsel. He immediately grasped what I was going for. He had some good ideas about problematic areas. He came in at $10K. The work was done ahead of schedule and done perfectly. Any problems (I didn't like the pulls I had picked and we changed them at the last minute) were resolved almost immediately with no hassle.

We were very happy with the results. Mike was excellent to work with, from the initial visit before we had made a decision to the final days of the project. Everything was done on time and came out even better than we had hoped. Mike does a great deal of the work himself and closely monitors his employees to ensure that they provide level of quality work that he expects. The cabinets and drawers were very well made. Anything that didn't meet Mike's criteria for excellence was replaced, even things we never would have noticed. We were very impressed by his integrity and workmanship and would definitely recommend him.

Mike was very good, never sold us anything but counseled us on what would look bettter and he was right nearly all the time. Mike and his crew were very proffesional knowledgeable, and cared for our house as much as we care. I would definitely hire Mike again to do our next project. Mike's estimate came right on the money, we acquired no additional overages and our budget was safe. The best part about working with Mike was the level of information; meaning, you always knew what was happening that day, the next day, next week, and when he would be showing up everyday, made planning a whole lot easier.

Mike was very professional, and knowledgeable. Mike came out ,and gave me a quote on installing my cabinets, and hooking up my dishwasher, microwave, and all the plumbing, and electrical for my sink. We hit a few snags in the begining, but Mike quickly fixed them. I could be happier with the job Kitchen Counsel did installing my cabinets. Very responsive to phone calls, and very personable.

I couldn't be happier with my new kitchen. Mike Talmadge and his crew are professional, meticulous and courteous workers who transformed my 1980-era junky kitchen into a beautiful, functional masterpiece. True to the name of his company, Mike approached the job as an advisor, meeting with me several times to talk about my plans, the design, materials and cost. He worked with me every step of the way, providing me with computer renderings of the kitchen and offering good suggestions on how to accomplish my goals. Since I have a tendency to think and re-think before making final decisions, I appreciated his patience throughout the process. He has great ideas and certainly helped me better formulate mine. He also brings great design elements to a project to make it unique. The cabinets (I went with natural maple), are beautiful, of high quality and workmanship. His cost was reasonable -- and I know I couldn't have done better for the quality and price, having checked with a couple other contractors. (Note: price quoted above excludes the cost of appliances.). I would recommend Mike Talmadge and his company a hundred times over and without reservation. How's that for a ringing endorsement? I mean every word of it.

Communication through email was convenient and prompt, and made scheduling much easier. He was also available by phone, but for me it was more convenient to email most of the time.
In August 2015 we got in contact with Mike he was able to give us an estimate on replacing the backsplash in our kitchen. We had a good idea of which tile we wanted, but there we a couple of details we were missing. Mike listened to what were going for and suggested things that fit in perfectly with out style, and also made sure that we considered everything that was needed.
Great attention to detail, very considerate, and very diligent in getting good work done. Highly recommend working with him.

I love my kitchen. He was very professional, he was quite a perfectionist. There was a slight problem and he came right back to fix it. He's a nice man, my cats liked him. He did a really good job. He made sure everything was looked at and included in the quote up front.
