"Sur Fence put in a new 12' cedar gate for the driveway. Working with Xavier was great. He's an excellent, consistent communicator. And also (seemed to) enjoy the creative process of my questioning and refinement of the gate's design. He was comfortable using photos as inspiration and developing a design that worked for my circumstances and budget. There were some areas I pushed him beyond the normal conventions of gate design (like size of main pillars and mix of materials). He always kindly shared his concerns and the norms of past customers, but never failed to find a way forward once he understand my aims. Many, many compliments on the gate and we've started a 200' cedar fencing project to do it justice. Highly recommend him and his crew."

"We hired Northwind Designs to install a crushed stone driveway and to incorporate some intricate masonry to better connect the driveway to our garage and a nearby patio. The team was fast and efficient, and they have a keen eye for aesthetics. Look no further than the portfolio on their websiteâ itâ s outstanding work. We have since rehired Northwind Designs to help install an outdoor shower (with attendant masonry/landscaping) and a fence. Highly recommended."

"When Frank delivered my cabinet doors and drawers all I could say was "WOW". They came out amazing. My thirty year old cabinets look brand new! I keep getting raves from family and friends who have stopped by. Frank was easy to work with. Arrived on time for our first appointment, went over everything with me and answered my questions. He answered the phone whenever I called him, and responded to emails promptly. I never felt ignored or forgotten. I would definitely not hesitate to use The Refinishing Company again."

"Everything went smoothly and beautifully.
They were professional, courteous, reliable, and good natured.
Everything that they worked on and built looks great and functions well.

We had one tweak that we needed on the wrought iron fence and they made the correction without an increase in price or a complaint. True professionals who take pride in their work.

Wrought Iron questions, answered by experts

The ideal distance between fence posts depends on several factors, including the terrain, the purpose of the fence, and the material used. For different types of fences, here are some general guidelines:

  • Wood and Metal Fences: Posts should be spaced between 5 and 8 feet apart.

  • Vinyl Fences: Spacing can be between 6 and 8 feet.

  • Chain-Link, Mesh, or Lattice Fences: Posts can be set anywhere from 4 to 25 feet apart, with 4-10 feet being common for chain-link.

  • Wire Fences: Spacing can be up to 12 feet apart.

In most cases, wrought iron fencing will cause your property value to increase. Most types of fence—but especially high-quality wrought iron fences—make your home more secure and deter burglars, which adds to property value. Fences can also help keep children and pets safe, which most homebuyers will appreciate. Wrought iron fences are also highly decorative, and while they don’t provide much privacy, they do add to your home’s curb appeal, which often leads to higher home value.

The most durable metal for a fence is wrought iron. With proper care, a wrought iron fence can last for centuries. This means regular resealing to stave off rust and corrosion, especially in coastal climates with salty sea air. In these environments, chain link and corrugated fencing tend to stand up better to the elements with fewer maintenance needs.

A living snow fence acts much like a man made snow fence, but is a windbreak of trees, shrubs, and native grasses. It acts much like any snow fence as it controls how snow drifts and blows into specific areas. The plants that make up a living snow fence are often seen along ditches,  roads, farms and communities.

The most common type of metal fence today is one made of either steel or aluminum. These materials are relatively easy to fabricate, making them much more cost-effective than traditional metal fencing handmade from wrought iron. They’re also much lighter and easier to install, contributing to their affordability and making them more DIY-friendly.
