"I truly can’t say enough great things about this company. My wife and I had all but given up on getting our insurance to pay for all of the damage from a hailstorm last summer to our roof and siding. And then we met Steven (owner.) Not only is he an absolute pleasure to talk to, but he was the first contractor to offer to fight our insurance company. Everyone else pretty much told us to give them the check and pay for the rest out of pocket (it would have cost us over $30k.) I hired Steven and Elite Exteriors on a handshake. Not only did I pay nothing out of pocket, but the work was performed quickly, politely, and our home looks better than it ever did. We feel like we got a brand new home. Dirty or not, you should always clean the wall beforehand. Even if the wall looks sparkling clean to the naked eye, it’s good practice to wipe it down with a damp rag and mild detergent. Leftover dirt, dust, and residue can create unsightly textures or interfere with the paint’s adherence to the wall. You’ll never regret cleaning it, but you might regret skipping this step.

In many cases, you can sleep in a room painted with low-VOC paint on the same day you painted it. You’ll want to give it at least 10 hours to allow any lingering chemicals to dissipate. However, it can still have an odor for about a day after painting, so you may want to add extra ventilation or adjust your sleeping arrangements if you’re particularly sensitive. 

No-VOC paint is generally odorless and won’t emit toxic chemicals, so it’s even safer and more comfortable to sleep near after a fresh paint job.

Phone jack installation can be a complicated project that requires cutting holes into just the right location in the wall and running delicate wiring. This sort of job is best left to the professionals. 

While you can paint brick or concrete pavers, you shouldn’t. Even with a matte finishing paint, it still creates a reflective surface where sunlight bounces off. This increases heat during summer months, making the pavers hard to walk on. The reflection can also damage your eyes. Chalk paint can be applied without sanding first. Keep in mind that while there are a lot of chalk paint color options available, there aren’t as many choices as latex or oil-based paint.

You can also learn how to paint furniture without sanding using a liquid deglosser, sometimes referred to as liquid sandpaper. This can remove any old paint, gloss, or varnish, without the need to manually sand. Apply the deglosser using a cloth, then wait for the chemical to penetrate through the surface. Once it soaks through, you should be able to wipe away the residue with a towel.
